Default Broke the rear end and drive shaft. WTF

Well got to the track last night and broke the rear end on the second pass. Who ever said the nitto Nt05'Rs were shitty Drag Radials. Launched hard and when it hit second gear I heard the carnage begin. Cut a 1.66 60ft and still limped thru the 1/8 @7.58. Wow, they broke it big time, plus the drive shaft and who knows what else. I took it to my tuners shop last night and he'll evaluate it today. It sucks big time cause I'm here without any ride and will have to rent a car. I had put the new camaro rearend in and now I have to drive 230 miles and pick up my old rear and bring it back to springfield mo to have it installed and find a drive shaft and whatever else is broken underneath. I'm hoping it didn't damage the tailshaft on the tranny. Fuck drag racing with an IRS rear. Same thing happened to my vet and I should have learned my lesson, but didn't. Don't sell your rear if you purchase a camaro, keep your g8 rear for a rainy day.

Guess I'll find out later, we are here in springfield for the street machine nationals and hadn't run my car all year so thought I'd run it since the track is only 20 miles away. Getting ready to find a rental and probably head home this afternoon. Last time I'm racing the old g8, just to nice a car to fuck it up. Don't really want to spend anymore money on it either.

That sucks. With drag radial you need a built 9", custom fab 8.8", or all rear end and tranny bushing upgraded and stronger axles in the rear. Also BMR sells a driveshafter cover to keep it from messing things up when it brakes.

Also I custom driveshaft from your local drive shaft shop shouldn't be to expensive. I know in South Florida there just a couple hundred bux

The worst thing is I don't have a truck and trailer anymore. I sold them after I quit racing my vet.

So sorry to hear this. I was wondering if the Camaro rear was better than our stock one; maybe not so much given your experience.
