I switched from Mobil 1 to Royal Purple and I never have ticking anymore. When it is cold, I do have a lot of piston slap. I hate it. I never drive this car hard until the motor is fully warmed. It seems the piston slap is getting louder with age. I now have 31K and a dealer that thinks I am too fussy about my car. I would love to go somewhere and have a genuine concern for getting the job done instead of MR SMILEY FACE SERVICE WRITER.

I had piston slap with RP. I switched to 30 weight Mobile 1.

Guys in Aus especially in summer seem to like Castrol Edge 10W60.
It quietens everything right down.
Not sure if you have that blend there.
