    Default Had a fun Sunday

This Sunday a friend let me run his car at the track. It is a 89 Mustang with a 351 stroked to something like 403. Competetion C4 with trans brake. 4.33 gears all motor no spray.

We went for test and tune but the track of cxourse was packed so we entered into the Pro Trophy class so we could get a few runs.

Keep in mind I have never ever been down the track before ever......first time no less staging in a car of this capability.

First run (qualifing) went 12.54@107 (dial in 11.20) had an issue with Line lock and understanding how it worked as it still held the car after switching it off. Was completely overwhelmed. Before even staging.

Second run we set dial in @11.90 and I ran a 11.21@121mph so I blew my run by going to fast but everything worked perfect. Also this was the fastest this car had run since built.

Third run Test/tune I launched @4500 to see what would happen and spun the tires down the track got out of it and back in to still finish with a 11.61@121mph.....this run if hooked up could have dance a low 11 or maybe even a high 10. THis was the last run as it was getting late and the place was packed.

I never knew how stressfull/nerve racking that first run would be. After that it all went smoothly. THe last run we should have checked tire pressure as we all agreed the pressure was most likely to high. WE started at 12-13 and the pressure should have been reduced but it was a rush no less.

Here are some shots of the car.

Sweet car! Probably a 408. More details on the motor?

    What heads is he running?

    Weight of the car?

How did it feel compared to your g8? lol.

Not sure on the weight as it has not been weighed. I wil get more details on engine when I talk to Tom next.

It really kind of woke me up to what fast is since this is the fastest I had ever gone in a 1/4 mile. I have had the G8 faster than this car but it will never get there as fast as this one will.

The car went staright down the track. It could be driven with one hand on the wheel. I have a video of it but not sure how to cut the runs out of it. If I can figure that out I will put it on Youtube.

    BOSS 302 Heads

Cam spec is an unknown as this car was giving to my friend as the original owner (built it) moved away and was tired of dealing with it I guess.

    IT is indeed a 408

The original motor was a 383 I guess but that motor failed on the first run with two rods through the pan.
