Installation of Roto-Fab CAI

I installed the Roto-Fab Cold Air Intake from the August Give Away. The installation was very easy and the directions were very simple to understand.

I have always thought my base G8 was quick but after the installation it SEEMS to be even quicker. I would love to know how much horsepower it really adds. Thank you again GRRRR8.Net!

I just noticed something. Sidewinder is your car a 2008? My engine cover is totally different from yours.

The data plate says it was made in May 2008 but it is listed as a 2009. I'd like to see the difference!

Hmmm, will that increase horsepower? What about debris getting inside the airbox?

It increases the amount of fresh air your intake can suck in. Filter blocks out debris :)

EDIT: Just realized it was a V6 :) oops.... that explains the different cover.

Thanks Sidewinder for the install photo's!! Looks like a very easy and quick install. I recently put a K&N Air Filter into my stock airbox and I could tell the difference in throttle response right away - I bet this Roto-Fab CAI wakes the V6 up even more. :Canada::woohoo:

GRRRR8 job. Your G8 is pretty clean. Might want to investigate the HSRK now that the MAF is directly over the rad hose. Helps you keep that new fund power.

Have my roto-fab CAI now....definately not a Wyotech grad here. Should I be worried about doing just the straight install...no HSRK, no tune etc? Is there anything i need to know to make sure I dont get any CEL's? Disconnect the battery? Anything will help...

I did the straight install and have had no problems. I was amazed at how easy it was. Just follow the instructions given and you'll have no issues. I did keep the OEM air filter and stuff just in case.

Got it in.......FINALLY! Was a little tougher than I thought to install, but for never having installed a CAI, it really wasn't that bad. I can immediately hear and feel the difference. Sounds like my car just grew another set of balls!

I was thinking about installing one of these on my new G8, but i have a question...

What size air filter will fit on the new housing? Would it be a size i could easily find at a local autoparts store?

We haven't been on this forum in a while, so here is a delayed response! First, you don't need to buy a replacement filter because our filters (both the oil and the dry version) will last the life of your vehicle with periodic maintenance. Also, we do carry replacement filters should you ever decide to go with a new one. You can check out our gallery at roto-fab.com for some pictures of oil and dry filters. Our air intake systems can be ordered directly through us or from several very reputable vendors here on this forum.

What about water getting in???

You can cut the back off the lower grill or drill them out and there is no water to get up that far. I have had it done on my car and makes a differance.

I just installed my rotofab CAI last weekend and so far I love it. Faster acceleration and no hesitation. It also makes a nice sound and improved my highway MPG. It only took about an hour and instructions that come with it are great.
