Hi all. My new car gives a tiny wobble/vibration at the steering
wheel at about 60mph and up. The dealer rebalanced one wheel and
checked all 4, rotated tires and still feels it. He is now doing
an alignment job on the car (though I don't know what sort of
alignment problem would cause the symptoms...)

Any ideas?
thanks,
Joe

Vibrations are almost always tire related. I would guess balance or tire defect especially if only at around 60mph.

Force balance.

OK, but they rotated the fronts to the rear and still felt it in the wheel... (said they did)

Are they evenly torquing the wheels?

weldons car did that like two weeks after he got it...the problem? = he had been driving hard and braking hard...so he wore out his rotters so he took it to tech the next day for class and turned the rotters and rebalanced the tires and it is fine.

thanks all. I will ask them about torquing, and to check the
rotors, but this is 90 miles or less into the first tank of gas
and I haven't been really pushing it anywhere...

Mine only does it for a few miles after being parked. Tires flat-spotting I was told

mine has the tiny vibration/wobble at 60 but not at 80??? I know i need a balance and alignment regardless

I only use the gas pedal, so my brakes are fine, unless I back up! Which that too will be fixed when I finish my Pedders.

Update: the dealer did do a re-alignment with no major changes, but did
say the steering wheel was off-center a little and fixed that. One wheel
was 3 oz. out of balance, and they fixed that, and rotated tires front-to
-back, and now I don't feel the problem.

An out of balance condition can moderate itself at different speeds.

3 OZ!!! Thats huge!! .5 can be felt at 100+! 1 oz is a lot. 3 oz is GINORMUS!

Before I bought the G8 I have, I test drove two. Both had the Goodyear tires and both had the aforementioned issues, as have other cars in my care. The G8 I bought has the Bridgestone's and there are NO issues with balance or runout. FYI

thanks. In fact I pushed the dealer into getting me the bridgestones. I was
willing to walk. He had to get the one car with 18" bridgestones in the whole
area and swap it's wheels for the ones on my car. I could see some shop guy
losing a few weights just to stick it to me for being particular...

This could be a subtle AFM vibration. Can you tell me more about what the vibration feels like?

as above. After a re-balance of the wheels no more vibration.

After two trips to the dealer....they finally agree my car pulls slightly to the right and has a sligh vibration at 60. I have an appt for next WED. I only have 900 miles on my car.

Road force balance is your key phrase.

I usually only raise 12 oz. (sometimes 16 oz when REALLY thirsty):drunk:

That could be it as these G8s are just sitting on dealer lots rotting. :hang:

I had the Pedders Track II installed last week...Steering wheel vibration went away after the install. I have 18k miles on mine. My upper strut mount bushings looked bad. I think changing those in addition to the radius arm bushings helped remove the vibration. I had my tires rotated, balanced, then rotated and balanced again prior to the Pedders install hoping the vibration would go away. It didnt work.
