RODAN

Took the G8 to the track for the second time tonight, and got much better results... :D
Review: Last time out the car was stone stock, didn't change tire pressure, 1/2 tank 91, 20-30 min. cooldown between runs. Temps 90+, DA at best run, 4600. Stalling to just before the tires break loose (1200).
Best: 14.17 @ 101.3 (60' - 2.17)
The car now has a Roto-Fab CAI, and Livernois email tune. I removed the engine cover (but not the intake cover yet), and iced between runs 30-45 min. Still running off the street tire pressure (35/39). This time temps were about 5* cooler, and DA for the best run was 4115. Stalling to ~1000.
New best: 13.57 @ 104.58 (60' - 2.11)
You can read all day long what a difference a tune (especially the TCU) makes, but you won't really understand until you've driven a tuned car. Wheelspin is more of an issue at the launch, but the car still gets moving better, and it barks the tires into 2nd and 3rd.
Corrected for weather conditions, the first run works out to 13.43 @ 107, compared to the new best, which corrects to 12.88 @ 110. Now, as I've said before, I'm not a fan of correction factors, but they do give you a way to compare runs under different conditions...
So, .55 sec and 3mph for the Roto-Fab and tune, which correlates to the dyno numbers I've seen.
For comparison, other similar cars that were running tonight. I can't really say what the drivers' skills are, but these passes looked good, and don't reflect excessive wheelspin; they were all automatics, and these were the best passes I saw them make:
'04 GTO, LTs, catless exhaust, CAI and tune: 13.70 @ 103
'08 C6 Vette, stock: 13.88 @ 105
SRT8 300, "programmer" tune: 13.84 @ 103
I never got to run the Vette or GTO, but I did smoke the SRT8... :D
Anyway, I'm pleased to see some progress, and I was very pleasantly surprised to be quicker than all of the above. The SRT8 guy had the following to say about the G8: "that thing's got some nuts!"
