WTF?

Every single station here only has regular and diesel.

Is it like this in your area?

Octane booster, here I come....

Your sig doesn't mention a tune. If you're not tuned for it you're wasting your money running premium anyway.

:lalala:

Tune or no tune, it's a performance V8 and it deserves supreme IMO:)

It will actually give more timing with 93 and by the second tank of it in mine when it was new it was noticable. Paid $3.79 here today for 93

Your timing also gets pulled more often with 87 because of the "Knock retard" function of the PCM. I noticed this when logging with HPT VCM Scanner. The Knock retard barely ever engages on 93, but it did frequently with 87.

I've also noticed some KR with 87, I've yet to try 91 or 94 in it.

+1. Doesn't it say in the owners manual that one should use premium?

Don't think so.

Nice. Were at 4.03 here. My cousin filled his POS van up with E85 for 2.99.

I'm almost positive it does. I'll check the manual when I get home and post the page unless someone else beats me to it.

8-33:

Gasoline Octane
If your vehicle has a V8 engine, use
regular unleaded gasoline with a
posted octane rating of 87 or higher.
If the octane rating is less than 87,
you might notice an audible
knocking noise when you drive,
commonly referred to as spark
knock. If this occurs, use a gasoline
rated at 87 octane or higher as
soon as possible. If you are using
gasoline rated at 87 octane or higher
and you hear heavy knocking, the
engine needs service.
If your vehicle has the 3.6L V6
engine (VIN Code 7), use regular
unleaded gasoline with a posted
octane rating of 87 or higher.
For best performance or trailer
towing, you could choose to
use middle grade 89 octane
unleaded gasoline. If the octane
rating is less than 87, you might
notice an audible knocking noise
when you drive, commonly referred
to as spark knock.
If this occurs, use a gasoline rated
at 87 octane or higher as soon
as possible. If you are using
gasoline rated at 87 octane or higher
and you hear heavy knocking, the
engine needs service.
Gasoline Specifications
At a minimum, gasoline should
meet ASTM specification D 4814
in the United States or
CAN/CGSB-3.5 or 3.511 in Canada.
Some gasolines contain an
octane-enhancing additive called
methylcyclopentadienyl manganese
tricarbonyl (MMT). We recommend
against the use of gasolines
containing MMT. See Additives on
page 8-34 for additional information

I don't have it in front of me, but I thought I've seen where it says 87 but premium is recommended.

Just to stir the pot, you get slightly more thermal energy out of regular
gas than you do out of premium, as long as you don't have any knock
(ie: if it's tuned for regular). The higher the octane rating, the more
stable, less apt to detonate, and the flame front can be slower too.
These are all small factors, but the idea that super is uniformly better
is as much a wive's tale as the idea that $100 moisturizer will do more
than the $20 dollar stuff. "You're worth it" they say.

Some even think 93 has more cleaners in it, NO. 93 is only better if you need it, meaning KR, boost, N20 etc

Drove I-40 thru there this morning, only premium (BP) I could find was Statesville. Lots of stations without gas out west.

:theman: I stand corrected. I swear I saw something in that book about using premium. Oh well. Guess I'm getting old.
