I'm looking to ship my car from Michigan to Utah. I was wondering if anyone here has any prior experience shipping a vehicle long distance. I'm also trying to find a reputable company. Most companys I've been finding seem to only have open trailers, and I was thinking I'd like the car to be in an enclosed trailor for the trip. But what you you guys think? Any tips or help would be greatly appreciated.

I dealt with a local company in Georgia when I moved back to Texas. They loaded the house items, then all the tools and equiptment and then my Mach 1 in an 18 wheeler. ZERO issues and zero damage. I think for 900 miles for all that stuff was $8300.

Not bad considering the mileage and weight of all that...

Contact Pilot, or Reliable. They have enclosed haulers, they use straps, and are professional auto-haulers. reliable is out of Canton, and Pilot out of Romulus, maybe, they are affiliated with United Road>.

I'll drive it there for you. Kind of like "Vanshing Point", and go for a new record. Will be broken in for you when you get there.

Does the military offer you any options for moving your vehicles?

only if you are PCSing... not if you are sending it to Michigan to get tuned...

I'll give the guys listed above a call. Thanks. I'm not PCSing, the cars only in Michigan being stored while I'm in Iraq. I'm stationed in Utah. I do plan on doing a "Vanishing Point" homage on some deserted roads when I get back. I had some work done by Livernois while I've been gone and I wanna see what she'll do.

Enclosed in very pricey compared to open trailers. I think I paid around $500 for a 300 mile trip.

I'm trying to remember the company we used. We are also military, we PCS'd to california last year from north carolina. We drove our other car to cali but had to have our truck shipped(and no the military won't pay for the shipping lol) It was like $900 or so after military discount and they took care of our truck. If I can remember the name I will post it lol

BTW, when you do your income taxes, you might be able to deduct the moving costs the military did not pick up. That and other costs as well. God's Speed.

I moved 3 years ago. Same company, different position. I was able to turn down the position so they didn't pay me to move.
However, all my moving expenses were deducted. Even the gas to drive, hotels, and all meals. I kept every receipt.
