.. What kind would you get? Since my friend totalled my Mustang last month, I'm in the market for a truck next month. I already have my ideas on what I want, but I want to hear from some of you.

Now is the time to get a deal too. Chevys have almost 0 issues long term and are priced fairly. There is nothing wrong with Dodge or Ford either.

HUMMER H2! lol I know im crazy. The GMC yukon XL and chevy suburban are awsome too. Wait, what kind of truck are you looking for? What size? Not pick-up right?

A pick up. I've been looking into a 05 or newer F150 4x4 with the Triton V8. It needs to be a quad cab/supercrew. The 07s are around 20k right now.

in that case, ford is the winner. HUGE POWERFUL pickup's. Personally I live the F 350 superduty lol. Again im crazy. F150 is great to you can't go wrong.

You can get brand new Chevy's for less then that... Also, GM's LS engines>Ford Modular engines as far as reliability, torque, gas mileage... the list goes on...

They couldn't have made that thing any uglier unless they glued squid to it.

The paint job im not a fan off but i think it looks mean. Front is flat and boxy though. You gotta admit though, ford is known for trucks. Not saying chevy isn't but ford a little more so.

Do you need a real truck for everyday or a puppy truck to
occasionally carry stuff?
From my personal experience I have had a Ford F-250 crew cab
with 8' bed that got 9-10 M.P.G. Great for towing but not
much else.
Since 2003 I have driven a Chevy S-10 4x4 with the V-6 engine.
I kept it for winter driving when I got my G8 GT. The S-10
has 141,000 miles on it and I have had no problems with other
then routine maintenance. Didn't have to change the front pads
until 93,000 miles, and it still has the original shocks and they
are fine. I just changed the oil occasionally and a couple sets
of tires. I got about 19-20 M.P.G. on the highway.
Of course the S-10 is now the Colorado with either a 4 or 5 cylinder
engine, but the mileage is up to 22-24 highway in the 2WD
and it can still tow 5,500 lbs with the bigger engine.
So, as long as you can get by with a 4 1/2' bed, this would be my recommendation.
If you need a full size I would just move up to a Silverado 1500.
Good Luck shopping!!

BTW The Colorado is quite roomy inside. I fit in my S-10 and drove a lot of long distance miles and I'm 6'7'' tall.

Our family farm uses GMC Sierras. They're great trucks.

Truck huh? Guess the G8 ST is out of the picture then?

I'd stick with a Chevy or Ford.

Haha, I knew someone would mention the G8 ST! No, I won't get one. Lol

I'm looking at a few of them. Let's hope that they're still around once the husband gets home in a few weeks.

Dodge has their new full size out and DAMN its good looking IMO. 390bhp and 400+lbft out of the VVT 5.7L Hemi... Damn nice!

Never been a Chevy truck guy. Good engines but the trucks never did it for me. I'm a Ford truck guy in most cases. Hell I own a Ford truck.:o

I think the reliability issue is pretty moot. After all, pretty much all of them last forever. I use a 1984 Chevy C20 as a tow vehicle. 300k+ miles and all I've done is get a $500 engine rebuild.

That said, I'd go look at the new Tundra. Quite a few friends have gotten one for some daily driving and towing and they are quite pleased. I've also heard good reviews from the Honda Ridgeline - most comfortable of any truck.

I was told to get a Avalanche. My husband is flat out against the Ridgeline. He doesn't think it can even be classified as a "truck" because of how wimpy it is. Whatev.

How are the reliability of Toyota trucks? My dad has a 85 Hilux that finally just got a new engine put in at around 300k.

I own a Nissan Titan (2005). I have logged 118k+ miles in the little over 3 years since I have owned it and anything that went wrong (radiator and differential) was under warranty. (60k powertrain)

Aside from 2 different O2 sensors and tires due to my mileage, the maintenance has been little more than fluid changes.

Very comfortable truck with plenty of umphhh. I have the crew cab model (4 full doors) and found it to have the most room (front or back) of ANY truck being made at the time PERIOD. I am 6 ft and very large around and have no problem with this truck.

The only thing I don't like (not that I use the bed that often) is that the bed on my truck is only 6 ft due to the huge cab section.

I have 305 horses, 350 lb ft of torque out of a 5.6L engine (made in TN - the truck is assembled in MS). I thought about upgrading the exhaust but the bang for the buck wasn't there so I opted only for a CAI (AEM). It brought the engine to life.

Has a 9450 lb. towing capacity and the coolest bed system I have seen yet (sprayed on liner, rails and cleats)

If it wasn't so much of a gas hog (or if gas was in the $1.00 range), I wouldn't hesitate getting a new one.

I spend about 4 hours a day in it and drive about 160 miles in that time and get about 16.5 MPG in mixed rush hour traffic.

Also, look at what you'll be doing with the truck. If you're towing a trailer every weekend, get something like a 3/4 ton diesel. But, if you only occasionally tow things, and haul things mostly in the bed, then you may not need something that can tow the space shuttle!

avalanche's are great trucks. you get the best of both worlds, powertrain from GM's pickups, and the ride quality from their SUV's without give up a bed...

Whatever YOU want. Nowadays, they are all good. The GM products are cheap now but Ford will follow if they haven't already, I'm sure. You have to drive it, not anyone here.

I'm a big Chevy truck fan so everything I say will be swayed that way. I've driven 1 or 2 Dodges and a few Fords but I seem to come back to Chevy every time. I'm sure it's just me being used to it but I feel like the Chevy interior features seem to be more intuitive than other trucks. The only way I would buy something besides a Chevy/GMC truck is if I got an incredible deal.

CHEVY AVALANCHE!!!!!!!!!! i have owned a 2003 and i still have my 2007 these are the shit! go look at one and see how they work and how use able they are plus look at gas mileage its great!!!!! these are hands down the best truck on the road today plus you can get it with the 6.0L which is another huge plus! let me say this i traded in my 2003 for my 2007 i had 75,000 miles on the 2003 never replaced anything! not even tires, brakes or windshield wipers!! i own rental properties so i pull a trailer a lot with mowers on it you could'nt even tell you were pulling anything! trust me go look at one and play with the mid gate to see how it works !!
