So i had two runs last Saturday and was pretty pleased for the most part. It was about 82-85 out and a tad windy. My first run was a 14.05 at 100.65(forgot to turn off traction ctrl). second was a 13.92 at 101.08. both launching at 1200 in normal drive. I think the heat has a lot to do with it but should i be using sport mode or just normal?

Sport mode and make sure you bump the shifter back to hold 3rd at 80mph.

1/4 tank of fuel helps and remove the engine cover (it just snaps on) so it can dissipate heat faster.

Any other advice for a first timer at the track (with the G8 anyway, used to go with my turbo GP)? Traction control off? This is with a stock car, so I'm sure no burn out is necessary.

TC off. 45+psi in the front tires(rolling resistance) 28-31 in the rear. Let it cool for at least 1 hour with the hood up and engine cover off when you 1st get there.

A little more air in the front tires, There's threads here on that. Let the engine cool down before you make your run.
TC off. Some start in Sport mode. Mine works better in Auto.

Without a tune yet (I know I'm an idiot-spousal money arguments-different subject for the lounge:)) I swear my car shifts faster and cleaner in regular automatic and not Sport...

Charlie, you said 28-31 psi rear. Is that a range for both or does the driver-rear tire get less air than the passenger-rear tire? I've heard some guys stagger the rear psi for some reason...

I run 23 lbs of air in my rear tires at the track and this has allowed me to get 1.94 60 fts on RS-As with my stock GXP. With such a short sidewall, I don't feel safe going lower than that, but 23 lbs is working really well so far.

should you try and stay in 3rd gear also?
