First off, let me say being new, great site. Tons of informative info and a well run board.

Now for the dissapointment... 09.5 GXP owner. Took it to the track with 1200 on the clock... Man is this thing nannied down. It's an auto car and the best it could manage on a 70^ evening was 13.65 @ 103.5. In any given 1 gear pull, the car flies... When it shifts, torque management makes it sound like its a manual being granny shifted.

I could turn stabilitrack off, but not traction controll.

Still love the car, by buddie with a 550i is equally impressed... compliments wherever I take it.

Stabilitac is traction control. You just need a tune to make it shift like you want it to.

Interesting.. I was told by a GM engineer otherwise??? Oh well learn everyday. With stabilitrac off, still won't smoke the tires...

No stranger to drag racing, My toy 4cyl ran 12.5's at 112mph... It's a domestic....

He probably meant torque management? Factory tunes are shit in all G8s.

+1 if you do only one thing to your GXP get Vector or Livernois ecm/tcm tune.
The tcm tune is what makes this cars a different animal.

Thanks.... Need to do it without the wife's knowledge... She says I can play with my cars all I want. Hands off hers. A buddy of mine has a Hemi charger with long tube and diable. The cars run neck and neck... For now

Turn TQ management down to 30-50% and that will solve most of your issues with an A6. Turn off traction control and make sre you go through the traps in 3rd gear. That should get you 13.30s at least. Add a Vararam and a tune and your in the 12s. :)

Ok... How do you turn TQ management down without a tune? And thanks.

Also thanks for the heads up on this site

No way without tuning. If you have a good local tuner with HP or EFI Live they can do it. Vector and Livernois have stealth tunes that you can purchase and just reflash your car and its not detectable. Vector has a system that allows you to put it back to stock as well.

Nice fleet of performance you have too. :)

Charlie,
I don't think you can go through the trap in 3rd gear with the GXP's because of the 3.27 gears. In 3rd you are only going 95 MPH at 6k RPM if my math is correct.

Jay has his completely stock GXP running in the high 12's.

Thats not what I was told. If we can go through at 6300ish in 3rd with a tune I would assume they can go through at 65-6600. From what I see there is about a 200 rpm difference with the 3.27s and GXPs pull a hell of a lot better up top then we do...... stock for stock that is. :)

08-02-2009, 07:19 AM
oh yeah, I bet they can go through at 65-6600 with a tune easy. I just saw that you were talking about running after the tune.

Anybody know what the stock GXP rev limiter is?

Charlie,

That's what is puzzling me... No tune???

glh, keep in mind as that thing gets 3-4k on it it will pick up .2-.3 as it loosens up. What was your 60ft? Always make sure TC is off(stability button). Run 44psi up frt and 33 in the rear, 1/4 tank of fuel, remove upper engine cover as well. If you didnt do any of these and let sit for an hour or so to cool down, that and your mileage is all thats keeping you out of the 12s. What was your D/A?

I loaded it up... (only held at about 1200 RPM) Third yellow brake off, gas matted... 60's were in the 2.08-2.13 range

Try launching from idle next time, works better for some (incl me).

Spring and fall. The runs were on a low 70^ evening... The Turbo Dodges were running 10's (5 of the quick 8). Ran it at the SDAC national convention.

I didn't see this mentioned yet, did you have it in Sport Mode?

Also, there is a photo someone posted on the other board of a GXP at a strip that had 13.65 on the drivers side rear window as his dial in. Apparently he ran consistent 13.65s all day.

Also, I know this may sound like a dumb question but I have seen people post otherwise, are you running Premium?

Yes premium.. Didn't have it is sport. Tried manua; shift

Our X-Treme Cal Interface allows us to achieve results equivalent to dyno tuning for simple bolt-on's, aftermarket power adder or full bolt-on vehicles that normally require custom tuning at a dyno facility. The interface is yours to keep, so we can send you updates to our tune files as they become available or update your tune if you do further modifications (within reason).

The X-Treme Cal Interface reads out your factory PCM program, which you can save should you ever need to return your vehicle to the stock PCM program. Restoring your vehicle to the stock PCM program is quick and easy.

The software is included, so all you will need is a laptop of your own.

Includes:
X-Treme Cal Interface
X-Treme Cal Software
USB Interface to Laptop Cord
OBD-2 Interface to Vehicle Cord

Price for the interface and a full tune is $600.00. For an additional $50.00, we can also make the tune undetectable.

You can call me at 313-561-5500 ex. 2123 or it can be found online here (http://www.livernoismotorsports.com/product.phtml?p=1946)

Please let us know if you have any questions.

Thank you

You need to leave it in sport and let the car shift. Then when you hit 3rd gear put the shifter into manual mode and pull back on it so it holds 3rd gear thru the traps. It's been proven sport mode is better then manual mode. Should pick up a tenth or two by doing this im guessing.

Leave it in Sport and let it shift itself w/ traction control off, you cant hold
3rd gear it will hit the limiter @ about the 1000ft mark around 95-100 mph cant remember exact mph. My best run so far was a low 70's day w/ DA of
8**ft, I want to try for some 12.60's when we get some -DA's in October - November before I do any mods.

Will do. So you have done nothing at all to the car.... Impressive

Best thing is the exhaust note. Took a buddy for a ride blasted by in front of staff conference room at work. Ceo asked me if I had let someone take it out for a spin (his car is a Jag XF).. Asked if he saw the car go by, response... It was gone too quick, we heard it.
