let me know what you think. :)

The guy in the pic is a budy of mine who used to cruise a WS6 trans-am but then got divorced.... you can guess the rest.

If anyone is interested in painting the coil packs, I used heat resistant engine enamel which can be found at any auto shop. Just make sure its heat resistant (Like I really have to tell you guys that). We got the idea to do it because of the red PVC tubing for the vararam intake. I think it looks pretty damn good now.

Now that its all nice and pretty, we are headed out to Biffs burger joint here in San Antonio for the weekly car gathering to show it off. :friday:

Nice coil packs, but what are you gonna do with those heater hoses all over the intake?

Actually its really easy. You will need a 10mm socket, it helps to have both a long as well as a short socket. The drivers side is easiest with the long socket. You will need the short socket for the passenger side since the coils are farther back towards the firewall on that side, also the first coil pack (on the passenger side) is easier to take off if you remove the oil dip stick.. We taped the sensor ports so they stayed black and put a small piece of tape to cover the hole for the spark plugs but its not necessary if your carefull, I dont think a little bit of over-spray inside the spark tube is going to hurt anything.

We found it easiest to screw the bolts back into the holes losely as we removed the coil packs so we didn't lose them. Make sure your hands are clean and make sure to clean the crap out of them (the coil packs) so as not to cause "fish eyes" when you spray them. If you dont clean them right, they will look like shit. Once taped we put them on a piece of cardboard and just went to work spraying them. Make sure to spray lightly and take your time, I can't emphisise that enough on a message board, you dont want to spray too heavy. I'd say leave at least 6 to 8 inches between the spray cap and what you are spraying. Do quick passes. Really, just take your time and spray light.

Took about 1 hour to paint and let dry before re-installing. The high heat resistant enamel dries pretty quick.

Just an FYI, we are not done with dressing up the engine compartment, we are planning on blacking out the valve covers and chroming all the bolts we can find including the bolts that hold the coil packs down. We just didnt have time to do it today. I will post pics as we progress, Im more interested in power at this point so it might be a while before I go for pussy-magnet looks. The car, as it is, already takes care of that! :screw:

My wires were red from the factory. That was one of the first things I noticed when I picked the cart up.

What did you use for prep on the coils as in cleaning them. I know when I painted my splash guards with matching paint the suggested using paint prep for going on plastic.

It looks very nice. I am thinking this summer I am going to do something under the hood for looks as well but red on a silver car is not going to work to good for looks me thinks.
