Rolls are a ricers way of saying, im scared of your big v8 out of the hole.

Heh, not too bad.

I traded an 08 Cobalt SS for my G8. The Cobalt may be faster from a roll (with a tune and whatever else he had), but mine was creaking and making so many bad sounds after 6000 miles, I could have never lived with it for several years. Trading for the real car was one of the best moves I've made in a long time.

Alas - make your G8 faster. =)

randy setup the race i hate rolls...

i even said a 20 punch but nope...

i think he knows what would happen from a dig

i think i was the only cobalt in the history of the world that loved doing dig races ;)

i blame sleeping at the light vs the GTO and missing 3rd (tried powershifting) against the 540.

Well I would have told the Cobalt that if we do a roll races, we do a proper race after.

He knew he would lose, and if he says he has no traction, well....don't buy a FWD car you plan to put a lot of power through.

There is a pretty fast balt that livernois tuned that used to run around woodward. Its a go-kart with 300+hp. Good races though!

I have had to SS that want to roll race and I laughed at them. Not that I couldnt beat them, but come on! I am spotting them a 1000 +lbs so we will go from a dig, thats drag racing.

Nice vids! :woohoo:

Roll races are definitely the way of the ricer... I have a Cobalt SS/TC with only a Livernois tune and first gear is worthless. From a dig it spins all through first, then you have to play the catch up game. From a second gear roll and the power to weight, it hurts a lot of feelings on the street :) I couldn't imagine how it would feel with some bolt-on's.

Here are a few videos of the Cobalt Paul (G8GT594) mentioned. This isn't mine, but my car made within a few hp of this car.

Why didn't that Cobalt in the second video run the Cobra from a dig?

And wasn't he lying about no mods if it's tuned?

Ever since this evening's encounter with the '10 Cobalt turbo... I've been looking into those cars. They are sweet for the cash...... :)

A cai, tune, headers, cam would make for one hell of a fast Cobalt SS (turbo)..........

P.S. - These videos are pretty good.......

They are cool for what they are and will take a ton of abuse. I beat mine like I stole it daily!

With all of the good deals GM has now, I tried to find a G8 GXP 6-Speed, but had no luck. I guess I'll keep the Cobalt and drive shop cars...

This one time... on a closed course :secret: I raced Dan's G8 when it made 410 RWHP from a roll 55-60ish - 120 and he couldn't pull away from me.

The ecotech motor in the cobolt kicks butt. There are people who have made over 1000hp with those motors in the import series...

I have not really followed the LNF cars since they came out, but I would guess you could boost the hell out of them. The only major limiting issue that I knew of was getting enough fuel in them as there was very little aftermarket DI stuff available when they came out. The problem with those cars is not making power, but getting the rest of the stuff to hold the power. Fun car to play with and I thought about one, but when I saw a new g8 GT for 25k I could not resist.

You really don't need many bolt-on's. Here is my graph from only a tune. We tuned it the day I got it, but I think once the weather warms up, we're going to throw some more at it..

What's up Rick?! The smile ":)" is for the 20 pounds of boost, correct?

Man, it does sound like those turbo Cobalts take very well to mods. I'm going to send this guy Austin down to you guys. He definitely wants at least a CAI & Tune.......

What's goin on Mike? Yeah the smile is for 20 lbs... it made 12-13 stock.

I thought about a CAI, but after reading on the forums it seems people have drivabilty issues with them, so I did only the tune. Plus, when you look at mine, there isn't anything that doesn't look factory.

Thanks for the referral :woohoo:

I don't have any personal experience with the CAI's, that's just what I read. I've thought about making the wastegate open for the winter so it doesn't make any boost.. it's horrible in the snow. I've driven rear real drive cars that are much better in the snow than this car :) On a cool day, it'll make 22-23 lbs., but it just spins...
