From one of my prior posts: Here's a quick guide to approx stock and approx RPMs at various speeds with various rear gear swaps. I thought this might be helpful to have in one place, in case anyone wants some quick reference.

2.92 Stock Gears G8 GT Automatic 18" & 19" Tires are about the same diameter.
50 MPH 1350 RPMs
60 1550
70 1800
80 2000

3.27 Gears
50 MPH 1512 RPMs
60 1736
70 2016
80 2240

3.45 Gears
50 MPH 1593 RPMs
60 1829
70 2124
80 2360

3.70 Gears
50 MPH 1710 RPMs
60 1964
70 2281
80 2534

Hope it helps...

new rpm = old rpm X new ratio/old ratio

or new rpm = old rpm x 1.1199

so at 1700 old rpm you will be 1903 rpm

Right, you have 3.27s and we're off by about 40 RPMs (1.67% difference). Remember, my numbers are approx and are with stock G8s with stock 26.7" diameter tires.

If you've changed tires even slightly, that would change your RPMs.

Also, I'm not sure but maybe some of the other performance mods you did changed your RPMs?.?.

That's not bad...

ET Streets are about 200 each and skinnies are about 150 each, so the tires are 700ish so that means the wheels are 1800 (450 each).

For turning sure the Pedders is better then stock... but for drag racing not really. You want the weight transfer to the rear in drag racing which the stiff touring/road course suspensions do not give you, but surprisingly the stock suspension is good at it.

Depends on your goals... do you want to drag race, road race/auto-x, or both?

And this is the reason why pedders offers a drag kit only.

H&R, Eibach, Bilstein, Koni, Tein, Lovells,... all have items available. A few more companies such as BMR carry bits and pieces as well and these brands actually have items in stock.

I'm looking for improved suspension to reduce/eliminate wheel hop, and to improve handling a little bit on the street. So these companies have bushings and kit parts similar to Pedders?

I was looking to do...

• G8 Street 1 Kit = $339.99
• BMR Trailing Arms = $139.95 for a pair
• Pedder’s Rear Lower Knuckle Bushings EP 7266 = $96
• Pedder’s 5030 Strut Mount Bearings = $77
• Pedder’s 5851 Strut Mount Bushings = $86

...

edmanet
07-25-2009, 09:25 AM
True and thats why its only bushings.

I'm not pushing any brand. I have the bmr trailing arms, and the pedders x bushings. I added the pedders diff bushings because its part of their stage 1 drag kit.

I have no wheel hop or any other issue at the track except for a lost of traction
any any given moment...LMAO

GeorgeInNePa
07-25-2009, 10:03 AM
I guess, or you could take that $3,000 and go a lot faster.

I have less than half that in my Xas.

If I wanted a drag only car, that's what I would have built. I have a bit of experience building those.

'69 396/375 4-speed Camaro, runs B/Stock. My father and I built it in the early 90s. He's running it this weekend at Numidia for a Division 1 National Open. First time out in about 3 years.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v320/GeorgeInNePa/Kids1168.jpg

I only have a few runs with the Xa coil-overs so far, but they seem to be ok. I rolled the adjustment back to stock settings for the fronts and when I launched the car, it rotated around the rear axles and streched out the front suspension.

Not much squat, but then again, I didn't really want much.

1.79-60' on brand new ET Streets in shitty (+1700') air. I think they'll do fine. ;)

With that converter/tire setup you better be running those 60' or I would think something was wrong. Yet with all those mods your essentially running the same times as me. I'd say both ways work ;)

Give me time to play and dial it in.

;)

My .56 was run on a night when I got to use a set of drag radials twice.

My .69 was run in air 3100 feet higher than when I ran the .56. My 60' was off by less than .01 (the new suspension is working I think).

There's a lot more in there.
