I took my car to the dealer about a month ago for an oil leak. They told me it was the oil leveling senor that was leaking and they had to order the part. Got the car back and again it is leaking. Took the car to the dealer today again and put it on the lift and looked under the car to see the oil pan was covered with oil. Took the bottom cap off and there was no oil on the fly wheel. They said it looked like the oil leveling sensor was leakin again but I looked up farther and saw that it was leaking from the crank position sensor right above the starter. Now they have to order the part again.

Has anyone else had a problem with there CPS leaking?

Charlie why I have my car at the dealer on Friday I would like them to check my tranny fluid to see if it is low.
How are they going to be able to do that with out draining the pan or do they have to drain it?

No I haven't heard about any leaks from the Crank Position (CKP) Sensor.

They may have to remove the starter to get the sensor out...not sure. The only seal there is the blue O ring you see in the pics below. I don't know the GM Part Number but it's a common BS113 size in Viton 60/70 material. [9/16" ID x 3/32"CS V60/V70]

To remove the sensor itself you just need 1x 10mm spanner to remove 1 bolt then pull the sensor straight out.

That's the 58x Crank Reluctor Wheel you can see thru the sensor hole.

Only Grey crank sensors will work with a 58x reluctor wheel, the old black ones are for 24x crank reluctors only.

You do not have to drain trans to check fluid level.

I had an oil pan/rear seal leak. They pulled the exhaust, tranny, etc. Haven't had a problem since. None around any sensors.

Well they replaced the crank position sensor and I have been driving the car for a week and there has been no leaks so far. When I got home from the dealer I walked inside and saw a box. What do you know my Roto-fab, HSRK, and UD pulley came in. Now I am just waiting for the cables to install the tune which should come in at the end of the week. Now it is time to have some fun with the car.....:auto:

i had a big problem with that sensor on my Chevy Lumina. It used to pour oil out. I had to replace the o ring sensor like 4 times.
