View Full Version : How much does a burnout wear a tire?

Say you want to do a little burnout in a G8 GT. You power break the car at 5000 or so rpm for about 5 seconds and burnout, then launch and do a 0-60 run. How many times would you have to do that to make brand new stock 19" summer tires completely worn?

Thanks!

How many licks does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop?

That short of an amount of time should barely wear them at all. Lateral burnouts (donuts, drifting) remove way move rubber.

I did a long burnout and collected the rubber with a broom and shovel!!

FWIW, I have 19k miles on my rear tires, and have done a few (didn't count them) burn outs. I still have plenty to tread left.
