When you post please include if you have cooler, stock converter, aftermarket... ect...

Thanks guys.

I have a triple disc converter but the cooler is too small. My temps are a little high.
About 200F. It takes a while to get there but once it does the temps have a hard time getting back to a normal range. Since mine was one of the first converter cars at LIVERNOIS they are going to install a larger cooler.

I got my converter installed with a nice size trans cooler and my temps are 200-220. Little to hot don't you think?

Paul:
I've got the Yank 3200 in mine with a B&M cooler rated for 20,000 lbs. GVW and mine stays at 170 - 190 in stop and go traffic in 90 degree weather. I've never seen it go higher than 200 degrees no matter what. 200 to 220 isn't really too bad, as the trans. is designed to operate fully warmed up at anything between 170 and 230 degrees , although it is probably better if the trans. doesn't stay at the 220 - 230 degree level for extended lengths of time. Short to moderate periods of time at this temp. level shouldn't hurt a thing though.

I've seen mine go as high as 105 C during lots of stop and go in Florida when the heat factor was 107 F (97 degree day). But usually it's around 95 C when fully warmed up.

I've been running 205 to 215 in traffic. No cooler.

I just received a cooler kit from PCMforLess, it will be installed by early next week.

Yank 3600. Still trying to figure some things out that maybe tuning related... Other then that first is useless lol.

You're going to need to relearn your launching technique.

Yep! Did you lose an L from your name.?

Anyway, remember that almost everything in the remarkable A6 is precisely machined steel, titanium, brass, etc. Not sure about the clutches, but the only other material in that sealed unit (sorry Wreck):p may be the gaskets.

I always expected the tranny to go :poof: on GM cars about +/- 100K. We will see about this one, but from what I have read, it is very much over-engineered for a 4500lb sedan. Even with 450-700 HP running thru it. If you have programmed 0% torque management, though, you are on your own.

Somewhere, somehow I seemed to have lost an "L" from my sign in name. Don't remember losing it but apparently it's been lost somewhere. It seems that eliminating all TM works pretty well in a G8 that is still mostly stock. However, once you get into making significantly more power via camshaft, heads etc (as I did , along with a 3200 stall rated convertor, and re-set the shift points to 6600 for 1 - 2 and 2 - 3 shift and 6500 for the remainder of the shifts.)...or possibly forced induction it seems that there can be slippage issues during the shift execution sequence that shows up during data logging. I found that by putting some TM back in ( 20% in my particular case) the slippage under WOT was completely eliminated. While I'm a big fan of hard hitting shifts, and I was reluctant to put any TM back in, it did fix a problem that could, over time, do damage to the transmission. That fairly small amount of TM didn't affect the shift feel in a negative way and may actually have slightly improved it ( to my surprise ) as it eliminated the slippage during the shift sequence. If anyone who has eliminated all TM and has bolt ons beyond cai, exhaust and tuning, I suggest that you may want to get a data log of the TCM during WOT shifts and check to see whether or not you are running into a slippage issue that you may not be able to feel. IF you are having this occur you may be slowly damaging your trans. Something to consider.

Dana's right. I had the same issues and putting a bit of TM back into the upshifts took me from a 12.37 to a 12.001, no other changes. For me though it didn't solve it 100%, more like 90%. Still a huge improvement though.

I'll have to ask Kirk to have my tune pretty simialar to yours. I think our cars are pretty similar, except your cam is a little more aggressive than mine. 20% torque management sounds good!

Mine ran hot as hell from the factory. On a nice day out with some hard driving in sport mode i saw 220-230 at times. In normal mode it would hover around 200. Now that i have the converter installed which still needs some tweaking and may have to get rebuilt im seeing 170-180. Which is much better but sometime it will hit 200.

Hopefully we can get this figured out and i can see the track sometime soon.

Sorry I was at the beach.

I have two issues that really bother me with the converter:

1) My tranny temps runs on the hot side[190-200 but it goes to 220 a lot] because a small trans cooler was installed. A larger cooler is going to be installed.

2) The converter continuously locks/unlocks between 55 and 70 mph and the rpms bounce about 200rpm. You can feel this the whole time between those speeds. And sometimes when the temps are hot the car will sorta jerk.
