I realize you may not get many responses to these posts, but definitely keep up the good work. They're very valuable if not just plain cool :)

why???????? ;)

Because we can get complete LS2/L76 or L98 6.0 crate engines for AUD$4000[US$3200] they are very popular for retro fitting into old LS1 cars. There's a guy here in my city who's done over 30 now like this.

It's still very cost effective to buy the crate and strip it rather than buy a bare 6.0 block, L92 heads, intake etc and build it up.

Only hitch is....the 2006+ built engines all have 58x reluctor wheel on the crank and 4x cam gears fitted.

So if you're putting one of these into an LS1 car you have to drop the crank out to change the reluctor wheel back to a 24x....and cam gear back to 1x.

But this guy went a few extra steps because he's also fitting:

Diamond Forged Dish Pistons
2 x Garrett GT2876R 440hp Dual Ballbearing "Baby Killer" Turbos

Thanks, I shall.

Mate, some of these type pics are GOLD....not today, not next week........but the day some guy goes to put his engine back together and can't work out if the dot on the piston faces forward or back.....etc etc

Seen it happen a hundred times where one good pic is worth 1000 words.

WOW 3200 is a very good deal for a complete engine. Our cost is a little over 5500 direct from GM.
More people over here would do LS swaps for that price.

My Vette would be done if that was the price here!

They're old surplus stock from Holden. I think somebody must have cleaned out a shed and found 100's of these things laying around. The L76 I got at that price was made in Jan/Feb 2006. L98's are the same 6.0 engine minus the DOD hardware.....they're the one to get. LS2's I think can be either 2006 or 2007 model for that same price.

HSV had a costly blunder recently. The HSV W427 (with the LS7 engine) has to leave the Holden production line with the LS3 engine fitted. Each W427 car gets loaded on a truck , taken to HSV......they rip out the LS3 and put it in a box, then fit the LS7.
Those LS3's are available here for AUD$6750 = US$5340.

For $3200, it's worth it to order one and have it shipped here. International shipping can't be that much.

NOW THERE'S a mod worth having! Drop in an LS3 for 5340 and sell your L76 for a few grand here...:)
