I was wondering about this...a couple of people have said my VIN isn't corect to be one of the first, but looking at my build date it should be pretty damned close... it was produced 03/08 and my last 3 digits are numerically lower than xx888. What is the true way of knowing? It cannot be just <888. You would have 1888,0888,2888,3888,4888,5888, etc... what is the real sequence?

The sequence is L988XXX
Mine is L988334

Even more obvious is the First 888 logo on the passenger side trim piece for all First 888'ers

Unless you bought your car used, I'm sure the dealer would have said something about it to try and get you to pay more $$$. Bastards.

My car was built in 1/08 so do the 888's have 07 build dates I wonder?

+1

I was going to ask anyway, what are the build dates of the 888? Mine is 02/08. Sounds like the March 08 is when they turned into model year '09. Weird.

Look like mine is 1/08 and its #509 of First 888...assuming the month precedes the year in the VIN?

I did get mine used with under a hundred miles on it, and they were trying to get it off the lot before the 09's came out, but the car has had a few trim pieces removed because of a clicking noise around the glove box...

Ah, welp the VIN is the sure fire way to tell as pointed out above. That'd suck if you did have a First 888 and they removed the etched trim piece.

Mine was also built 1/08 and is IOM. Guess their brothers then?
