guys I am goin got the track for the last time tonight until FALL.......

should I yank the mufflers off real quick B4 I hit the track?

Is it that beneficial?

I ran a 13.2 with 1200 miles on the car with a tune, home-made CAI,
HSRK, and high IATs.

Tonight, I am going to cool the car down extra long, have an IAT sensor tricker, and will ice the car.

I really want a 12.8 before the FALL cool down times.

Any other helpful hints?????

thanks,

2-5 hp would be my guess. Where are you going?

US 13 Dragway test&tune tonight. Mainly to watch my buddy's new 1500hp Stang try and skate down the track.

So for 5hp, not worth messing with. Thx for your opinion.

+ Weight savings.. Those big mufflers are heavy.

The SLP unit (pipe) says it is good for about 10 HP. That being said, the loss of 40 lbs and a gain of 10 HP might help with a run. Not real hard to take off. If it took more then about 20 mins I would say don't worry. Every 100 lbs is about 1/10th off your time (somewhat valid rule of thumb). So, go low on gas and without the mufflers and that should knock off a few tenths. Air off windows up will help a little too.

I don't believe the 10hp for SLP mufflers.

I think a few tunners have stated only about a 2-3hp gain from removing the stock mufflers... Is it possible there is something better for HP than no muffler??

I heard that the stock mufflers kill 5 RWHP as opposed to no mufflers.

x2

But remember, it's SLP we're talking about here. Everything they sell has inflated hp estimations.

What I meant by that was it is a piece of tube or equal to no muffler so if they say it is 10 flywheel HP than no muffler should be the same. Plus the weight loss has to help.

Let us know what you did, and how you did at the track!
