It was a bit hotter tonight, 82 degrees, but I actually ran faster than my first time out. Here is my first thread along with the times I pulled that night. http://forum.grrrr8.net/showthread.php?t=7463

Best time I could pull was 14.0 @100.10 mph..... I'm hoping the 82 degree weather is hindering my ability to dip into the 13's. Here is a short version of my runs for the night:

R/T .293
60'- 2.150
1/4- 14.0
MPH- 100.10

R/T- .153
60'- 2.12
1/4- 14.04
MPH- 99.59

R/T- .426
60'- 2.12
1/4- 14.25
MPH- 99.46

R/T- .461
60'- 2.15
1/4- 14.1
MPH- 99.71

Hopefully we were able to get you going in the right direction. You had some real good improvement over your first night, nice job on that.

Trust me, when the weather gets cooler, 13's are yours, maybe even down to 13.8 or even better. It's just a matter of time.

Thanks buddy, I appreciate the help you offered.

I aired down my tires to 25 psi and then refilled them with the air-compressor included with the GT, nice!

http://www.dragtimes.com/da-density-altitude-calculator.php?elevationcorrect=2838&et=14.0&mph=100.1&correctetmph=Correct+ET+and+MPH

This site is just an estimate, but it gives you something to go by.

I plugged in the weather for 6/20/09 at about 6:53 pm.

Density Altitude: 2838 feet above sea level

1/4 mile ET seconds 14.0
1/4 mile trap speed: 100.1

CORRECTED TIME AND MPH (assuming a zero density altitude)
13.525 @ 103.687 MPH

Feel better now? :D

Wow, that's nice!

Forgive me for being a bit slow (no pun intended) but what would zero density altitude be?

Just go to that site and start plugging in numbers. I guess the temp. should be around 50-60 degrees, and a higher barometric pressure, and lower humidity.

Sometimes we get what is called negative DA's, which means temp about 45 degrees, 30% humidity, and pressure of about 30.50 or so. Those nights you don't use corrections as your 12.80 corrected would be about 13.0. :D

Since these cars hate hot weather, your best times to race is when it is cold and less humid. You should get lots of those days in Memphis, while down in Houston we rarely get them. In Houston we have two things going for us, one is a great track in Houston Raceway Park which is almost at sea level (good) and the other is a great track with great prep (good), but if we are going to a best time, anything other than October through April is pretty much not going to work.

Right now enjoy learning your car and getting some good 'kills' on the track. Your search for the best time will come in October or so. Right now you race for fun, when the DA's get toward zero or negative, you race for personal best times.

No matter what you do, have fun, be safe, and enjoy yourself. Due to the heat you will not get your 13.7 right now, bit there is some loud mouthed kid in a Mustang talking sh*t, so line em up, and shut him up. :woohoo:

Heat and humidity will kill these cars quick. I've found that by my third pass, it's pointless to run due to being so heat soaked. That's why around here we love the Nov. Test and Tunes at Milan (avg. temp around 38-45 degrees) :)

Wow, those temps are nice. I bet it makes cool down alot quicker.

I took it off a couple weeks ago, after my first time at the track.:woohoo:

Yeah that DA is absolute shit. Go to the track during the summer to practice your reaction times and techniques for cooling. You are not going to get your best times during the summer heat.
