Excuse the uninitiated, but can someone please explain the benefits, and any liability, to installing an aftermarket pulley which I assume is both smaller and light.
It would help, as I'm about to have an R-F, VMS tune, and the HSRK installed on my new G8 GT and if an aftermarket pulley really helps performance I would like to have that done at the same time. Thanks.

Well, I just installed mine. Seems to reach RPM's faster. I plan on taking it to the track the first day it is open and it doesn't rain. It feels much faster. Like always, I will post my results when I finally get to the track.

So the engine seems to grab revs faster, that it? Any down side to the pulley?

Lighter pullys requier less power to turn, which free's up HP. In a nut shell anyways.

None that I see.

Thanks for all the input, it's appreciated very much. Does anyone know the installed cost for this modification? I don't have the tools or frankly the know-how to do it myself to a professional result.

Installation estimate $60. - $100. if you have a pro do it.

Powerbond Pulley, Belt, Bolt. - $220.-$250. shipped.

Mine arrives Mon.

Wife said it was either this or a Maggie....

Since I didn't know anyone by that name, I settled on the pulley.

Downside to a pulley is you are spinning the accessories less than before - alternator making less power, power steering making less assist, water pump doing less pumping, (A/C compressor making less pressure if that pulley is reduced also)

Upside to a pulley is the engine wastes less HP turning the accessories.

Sounds like if you want to go all out and don't care as much about the car's streetability the pulley would be a good idea. I really want my car to be very streetable, so I think I'll skip the pulley, unless I'm missing some point(s) here. Thanks.

Powerbond pulley does not affect A/C as it is on a separate pulley & belt.

Since I put my pulley on, I have noticed no difference in the under driven components. My steering is identical as with the standard pulley, the temperature stays right at 3/8 just as before. I have my Atari gauges out for modding right now so I can't see my volt meter, but I don't notice any thing obvious with the electrical. I was also worried about the side effects of the UDP. But am 100% happy with it. It is also my daily driver.

Thanks G8 795 I appreciate the clear input. What convinced you to get the udp?

Several people here have sworn by them. I figured if I didn't like the side effects, I could just put the old one back on. I can definitely tell the difference with the butt dyno, but will try to take it to the track next Friday if we don't get rained out once again (two weeks in a row).

Glad to hear you like it Robert. It has been on mine for 1700 miles with 0 issues.
