he's asking $100 more now from what you're stating and I believe his gears are not manufacturer gears, they replace gears in the diff themselves, which is only $50 difference from the genuine diff I wanted to go with....

The diff assembly is at the exact same price that I purchased it at, just had to add $150 AU dollars for shipping to the price. Total $1550 AU dollars. When I did my pay pal purchase, it converted it to $1320 US dollars.
The link is correct, the auction doesn't close with a purchase since he had "more than 10 available". I only bought one.
Yes, you are correct, the diff is a rebuilt with replacement gears. The one I received looked new. In fact, I panic initially when I opened the box. The carrier tag was facing up with the "2.92 gear" designation on it. When I took it out it had 3.45 gears written on the top. I'll take pics of the assembly to show what I got.

Another weak attempt for JHP to knock someone elses product. God forbid someone else sell AU overseas. I know this is an easy going board, but please ban this troll.
I'm really interested to see what the gear changes do for your times. These would be next on the list for me.

I bought my diff from JHP. Everything was perfect and price was good. Diff was brand new Holden with the right ratio from the factory.
If anybody with a 3.27 diff wants the other ratios, let me know. I'm thinking a 3.27 would be a good mod to my DD.

Did I miss something or was there a deleted post somewhere? Who is knocking JHP? I didn't see any bashing in this thread.
That price is about right.....I paid $1350 for my brand new 3.27 diff, back in October.
As for times.....I say he drops...0.6 off his times. I dropped 0.5 by adding the 3.27's...

Lucky ME! ! ! Gears work great and just as quiet as stock. If it ever cools down a little we'll see what the track says about it being faster.

So...how long did it take to get them in? You break my record? 2hours and 20 minutes from putting it on the rack till driving down the road.
Did you get the speedo recalibrated? If so...what are you turning at 80? I'm turning 2195 at 80mph.
You got anymore mods, besides what in your sig? Might have to rethink my guess on your gains....

It would be great to go some 12.50's....just need some cool track time.
Don't know if I broke the record, it did take about 2.5 hours. The Speedo is reset for the 3.45's and reset the shift points. They need some fine tuning at part throttle but WOT is good.
Have to check rpm at 80. I flew by it last time I was at it.
Plan on a 160 thermostat so I can add some timing to it. Next will be exhaust...

I kinda wish I did gears instead of a torque converter.....

Just went to Dunn last Thurs with our Mustang. Went a 5.10 and 5.05 at 143. We were in line to run again but the wreck closed it for the rest of the night. I am waiting to hit Rockingham or Fayetteville on a cool evening with the G8. Sunday Test and tune in the heat isn't going to do it for me......Need some good air to compare the gear change gain.

I think gears are a good move. The gears help get away from needing a converter since it turns up so fast with the low gearing. Can't see why it wouldn't help. I am taching 5500 at 106 so at 112 you should be crossing the traps at a better rpm for the cam you have...

Please explain how I'm always talking crap. Feel free to go through any of my threads on either board. I have the same screen name unlike yourself. While we are on the screen name subject. Which nutswinger from JHP are you on the other board? I have my guess from the lack of being able to put together some intelligent posts.
I can find all your posts over here are just related to parts that your company sells. You always try to find ways to steer people over to your products, by knocking anyone else's products. Do us a favor and stay over on the other board and continue ripping them off.
My apologies to the OP for going a bit off topic. Non vendors shouldn't be posting under false titles and taking shots. I look forward to hearing your results.
Any idea of when you will be heading to the track?

Wonder if 3.45 too steep of gear for someone with cam or supercharger.
Most of these cars seem to go thru the traps(end of quarter mile) around
114-116mph, with 3.45 seems like you might have to shift into 5th???
I think maybe 3.27 are best for car with cam or supercharger?
Want to get a cam and some LT's I think maybe 3.27 best for this setup?

Wouldn't raising the rev limiter too much or making your shift points way high in the rpm band ( ~ 7000rpms), wouldn't that take you out of your power band?
Like I remember George saying (that Vector did for him), I need Sport mode specifically set up for the drag strip. :D

Interesting. Looking at your signature and thinking of all the other results I've seen with mods you have, less headers; it appears you might have picked up 0.2 to 0.35 secs in the 1/4 from the gear swap alone...
Can you validate that?

It was exactly .5 that I picked up. I went and ran a 13.2 on stock gearing, then put in the gears+recalibrated the speedo and shift points, and ran a 12.7.
I gotta get back to the track to see what the headers and the new ecm/tcm tune does....

Wow .5 sec better in the 1/4 with only the 3.27 swap. The picture is getting clearer for me...gears are looking good. Not only that...around town the new gear probably makes the car act like its 500# lighter.

Huh, that's good to know. I still think 3.45s would be too much for me as a daily driver (gas mileage). But I think 3.27s would be good for the dragstrip (better than the 2.92s), and still decent at the gas pump (mpgs).

About the mileage...I think I get good mileage considering how I drive. Hell...I just put the 3rd set of rear tires on the car with only 12k miles. I'm averaging 20-21mpg. I drive in town in manual mode with the car turning 3-4k....just to hear the sound of the exhuast.. With the 3.27's...the car will still go into afm at 75mph on the interstate. It only raised the rpms from 1964 to 2195 in 6th at 80mph....that's not a big jump on the high end.
As for these convetor issues....I haven't had any. You can look at it this way....the gears take some load off the engine/tranny. It just puts it onto the axles....not worried about them. If they were to break....just slap some new ones in...better than a tranny.

I finally made it to the track with decent evening air, 70's, which is hard to come by in the NC during the Summer.
Went:
12.96 @ 107.9
1.97 60ft
8.39 @85.5 1/8mi
100% stock exhaust, stock all season radials.
Oh yeah, I managed to get the nose dive on the second gear shift for leaving the traction control on.
I think these gears could do better if I had the air I was racing with on the 13.06 pass w/2.92's. My opinion is you wont do any better w/ 3.45's over 3.27's unless you have a cam and can run up the rpms some more.

interesting....you have a tune? What are you shifting at? I'm shifting at 6150 with about 15%tq management. I raised my rev limiter to 6350...just to be sure it didn't hit it while trying to shift. It comes up so fast, sometimes the tranny couldn't shift fast enough, when I had it at 6250.

I'm kind of cuious what 3.27's and 3.45's would do for a cammed car. as with most cams you lose a little bottom end right off of idle. Yeah I know converter for cams... but I don't want a coverter this is a daily driver that sees 20k+ a year and if it sees a track it will be road racing and converters = more heat which is a no go for road racing.

I would love to throw some 3.27 gears in my GT! (But I don't know if I count because mine already has a 3200 Yank......)

interesting....you have a tune? What are you shifting at? I'm shifting at 6150 with about 15%tq management. I raised my rev limiter to 6350...just to be sure it didn't hit it while trying to shift. It comes up so fast, sometimes the tranny couldn't shift fast enough, when I had it at 6250.
Your 60'....are even with mine...
There is a HPT tune that I did. Pretty much the same one thats been on it except with trans adjustments for the gear change. TQ is .45 for seond with .23 shift time, .2 TQ and .21 shift time for all other gears. It shifts a little short in Drive @ 6050ish, when it likes 6200. My Sport mode is still shifting a little late so I left it in Drive for the run I made. If there was more time at the track, I would have tried Sport since I adjusted it but couldn't chance a bad pass. It would go 12.80-'s -12.70's with air and the right shift points. The MPH pickup was good enough for me for now. Won't be able to improve on it with the stock exhaust anymore since the new exhaust is half built and installed, going from the manifold back. Once I get some times with exhaust upgrade then it will get the cam on the shelf. Be curious to see what I need to adjust for the exhaust change. It will be easier to tune now that the WB is installed.
It was nice to see the 1.97 60ft.
As far as "air" goes. It was 70's, humidity in the 50's% with decent pressure @30, the 13.0's was done in low 60's with 30+ in hg., low Humidity.

HHmmmm.....I had a few problems with it hitting the rev limiter.. I have a 6350 rev limit and had a shift point of 6200...but still would hit it in every gear. So I moved the shift points down to 6100....much better now.
It was a probably about 80 degrees when I ran my 12.7...don't know about the other stuff.
But after I put on the headers and removed the rear mufflers...it feels faster...gotta get back to the track..

Now I'm really confused. I thought guys here were seeing .4 to .5 quarter mile improvement with these new diffs/ratios? What happened?

3.45s should theoretically yield even better 1/4 mile gains than 3.27s unless traction was going to heck...

That was one guy, not guys.
There have not been enough data points to suggest it's a 4 tenth improvement every time...
There will be many factors involved.

DA.
Didn't any of you take science class in school? :nah:
