Fuck you, Pontiac, and your insipid Euro-wannabe naming scheme which confuses everybody. You deserve to be where you are, the newest addition to Car Marque Hell, with all those other auto-industry flops that nobody wanted. Why? Because YET ANOTHER person called my car a G6. I love having my fantastic car (best GM makes, next to the CTS and Malibu) put on the same pedestal as another forgettable front-driven also-ran rental-lot-superstar piece of utter automotive shit. God damn that makes me rage worse than anything.
Maybe I should re-badge the G8 so that you can clearly see the G8 emblem in huge letters from any angle.
Sorry about that, guys, but I REALLY had to get that off my chest. Anyone up for establishing a non-profit campaign to increase the public's awareness of the major differences between a G6 and a G8?

You got the right idea with the re-badge. No one EVER confuses my car with a G6. They are simply confused. "Perfect"!
P.S. - If'n you wants to fuck Pontiac, better hurry. The line's getting quite long! :p

I actually see the merits of a Holden conversion, now. They won't say, "is that a G6?" - they'll just say "what the hell is that?".

Don't feel too bad, I was showing this really hot chic at my job my car, and first thing she says is...
"Oh, isn't that a Grand Am?"
Stupid Ho! She needs this :spank: really bad! :)
Anyways, now I know why I prefer brunettes.

I dropped my car off last week at Revord for the recalls and an oil change. I was waiting for a buddy to come pick me up and I was talking to a salesman on the lot. There was a white G8GT with cloth seats that was on the lot, BACK IN AUGUST, when I bought mine. So I ask the guy, "How many miles are on that G8 now?". He didn't know, but he said "we've got a really good deal on it, you interested? That was you who just pulled up in that black G6, right?"
He doesn't even know the cars that he's supposed to be selling!

I personally blame Bob Lutz for trying way too hard to make Pontiac a budget BMW fighter, even going so far as to imitate the Bavarians with pointless, unnecessary, and totally forgettable model nomenclature.

I think mine's been called a GTO before, too... which is okay, since it's a little bit closer to a G8 than a G6 is.

Mine has been called both GTO and Grand Am.....I wish Pontiac had looked at their heritage and used something like Tempest, Le Mans, Chieftain.... something with balls man....

Nah, man, the 8 was like a weird premium coupe. The G8 would be something like a 560. (Because the BMW numbers are usually just kind of close to the displacement - a 128i and a 135i are both 3.0 liters - and sedans are usually the odd numbers. Yay BMW?)
I don't know why they didn't just give it a damn NAME. They have plenty of historic nameplates that aren't stupid and haven't been tarnished by being shit products (I am looking at you, Grand Prix). They could have even used a damn Oldsmobile name. This isn't like when there was a Grand Am and a Grand Prix, and everyone confused them too - which was fine, because they are basically the exact same uninspired, front-driven turds that look, act, and break down in pretty much the same way as one another. Except oh, a Grand Am is the tiniest bit smaller.
Ugh, starting to rage all over again. Enjoy your bankruptcy, GM, you've earned it!

Amazing, we are not allowed to get political. We wouldn't want anyone to know the truth, but we sure can cuss. Wow. Get over it, who cares if they think it's a G6 or a G8. You know what it is, a fantastic car.

That happened to me at the muffler shop. Duse said, hey your GTO is ready. I just let it go. He was one of those know it all types.

I stopped caring about what others think of me or my car a long time ago. That said, I get people who ask what the V stands for on the trunk lid.

You have NO IDEA how tempting that was when I bought the car. A white GXP with red Thunder Chicken on the hood and red/onyx interior would be like the Trans Am days of yore. Put a whale tail spoiler on it and you'd be set.

Put a screamin' chicken on the hood.
Back when I was a starving grad student, I bought a $125 1966 Ford station wagon with no brakes and a rusty hood. Using white, red, and black rustoleum, I painted at large turkey on the hood with a large "Fire Turkey" caption. I was tempted to go with a "Trans Ghetto" theme but chickened out. Now that Pontiac is almost extinct, maybe it's time for a "Fire Pterosaur" or a "Trans itory".

I don't think most people know the difference between a G6 and a G8. Mine's been called both a GTO and a G6 and some get it right, all I know is it gets a LOT of admiring stares and you can tell when someone really knows what it is.
People love this car. Hear that you idiots at GM?

G6, BMW, GTO, Grand Am....honestly who cares.....I care 0 what anyone thinks about my car, or what not.
If this car had been called a Turd, I still liked it and would have bought it.
Worrying about what others think will set you back in life....

Since I debadged my car, I don't really expect many people to know what it is. If they think it's a G6, so be it.

A good friend of mines i haven't seen in awhile stop by my parents house to see me since i was home visiting and wanted to see my car. He said wow!! pontiac really improved on the pontic grand am and wished they had changed the body style a long time ago and he liked the new name they gave it. I couldn't say anything but just look at him. I guess alot of people think since the grand am got discontinued they just think its a rebadged grand am with a new body. But the worst part he has a 3.5 nissian altima and dared me to race him. told him lets go for a ride in my car and then if you like we can still run. After my nice ride around the corner with him he didn't even utter the words of racing just shock this car moves so well. plus he didn't get to see the engine first before opening his mouth about racing me.

I had a lady try to gain entry to my car. Tried to user her remote, failed, and then try her key in my door. She thought it was her new Mazda 6 that was parked nearby. I told her it wasn't going to work because it's my car she was trying to open. She didn't believe me until I told her to read the trunk-lid.

In hindsight, I should have messed with her, and remote-started the car as she was pointing her fob at it, or hit the panic button....... :)
