I'm not sure if this is possible, but can the remote start be reprogrammed to allow starting w/o hitting the lock button first?

i wish we could tune the distance for it to work. i feel like an idiot with the key against my chin in the parking lots.

mine has really good range! Hard to say how far but at least 150 ft.

mine has never been more than 30-40 feet, i am always "itiching" my face to get some distance with the remote

Yeah, I wish I knew where the reciever was for the remote system....cause I would try to relocate it some....or atleast make sure there wasn't interferance around it.....

I am anywhere from 75' to 15'........

Its in the rear package shelf, I actually have a semi-fix for this at least that helps a bit ;)

It's not the receiver you're looking for. It's the antenna. It's in the passenger B pillar.

My lock will work from a really good distance, but the remote start seems to require about 1/3 of that distance to work.

I've noticed mine's spotty too. Sometimes I can get it to register a long way out - other times it's only 50ft or so...

Actually the antenna is laying horizontally polarized on the packaged shelf clipped to a wiring harness that runs right in front of the drivers side rear speaker.

I didn't know they changed them from the Aussie version. No wonder people complain about distance with an antenna laying on it's side.

Well the wierd thing is my GXP works great, my GT sucks... Same setup... VERY wierd.

I meant to ask about the remote start the other day oddly enough. Will it work with the hood open? I was changing the oil the other day and wanted to use the remote start to check underneath for leaks but i couldn't get it to start? Didn't try it more than 3 or 4 times but it made me wonder

No, you can't remote start when the hood is open. 1st thing the computer checks for on remote start is open doors or hood.

If I could expand the reprogramming question. Currently the HVAC system only comes on with remote start only with the Automatic climate control. For those of us with manual climate control (standard on V6) we are forced to enter a hot car as the AC does not come on until the key is inserted and turned.

Can the control module be programmed to turn on the HVAC circuit on vehicles equipped with only the manual HVAC controls.
