Charlie,
I have a 2006 Yamaha AR210 Wakeboard boat. Bought it new. 3 oil changes is all the maintenace I have done. Boat has about 75 hours on it and this past weekend the port side motor hard a hard start problem and was way down on RPM's, max RPM was 6500. Starboard motor would pull to the 8100 normal. these motors are De-tuned 1100cc R1 motorcycle engines conected to jet drives. I did some research and many posts covered the spark plugs need to be changed yearly. Bought 8 new NGK factory replacement plugs from NAPA and installed. All seems to be fixed and both motors pull well in the driveway hooked up to the garden hose. Thats the history--now for the question????
A-why do these motors eat the plugs?
B-would you suggest a different Brand?
C-would a different maintenance schedule benefit me?

I know this is from left field but thank in advance for the help.

2 stroke? What ratio are you mixing the gas?

Sustained hi rpms in certain engines kill plugs. I wouldnt worry about changing heat ranges or brand. I would follow the owners manual recommended maintenance intervals.

ok I will change them out yearly. I owned a a CBR 1000 and they turn a bunch of rpms and had 3 years on stock plugs. If it runs better this weekend i will jut consider the plugs part of the "Spring tune up"

a camaro engine would be alot of fun in the boat...can you help with the adapter plate to go from the motor to the jet drive?

Boats are funny about maintenance for no apparent reason.

F the Camaro engine. Throw some Hayabusa engine goodness in there! (Sorry about the semi-dead topic, but I felt I had to say it.)
