Help electrical

I want to connect the direct wire cord for my new Escort 9500ix into the fuse box,but not sure where,any tips would be appreciated (local radio installer wants $30 -$50) this is what I have...black goes to a ground screw somewhere under dash, but where?

i was told there are no keyed sources in the fuse panel harness, perhaps others know of a circuit besides the one on the ecm connector

Why not try what I did - I ran to wire to the power point in the front console - it is relatively easy to reach to install and it is Switched - turn the car off and the radar detector is off and vice versa. You can see the wiring by removing the passenger side console kick panel.

Going to get it installed for $30, with my luck I'd prolly' fry the computer.

I hardwired mine into the mirror. Has been working great since I bought the car. I had the 8500 x50 powered into the mirror on my last vehicle and simply transferred it over to the G8 and installed it in the same fashion.

You don't even have to cut any wires this way. Just push them into the back of the OEM wiring harness. The pressure from the wire being push in holds it just fine. Have never had it lose power at all. I'll try to get you a picture.

What wires do u hardwire it into the back of the mirror? im not sure which one is postive and neg? any pictures or diagrams anyone?

There is a mojor ground supply under the dash on the drivers side nearest the door, the lower dash just snaps off after removing the silver trim.

I have to wire it to the mirror bc i bought some cord thats only like 7inch long with a built in fuze

yea i got something very similar to those...just it has some built in fuse right before the end of the postive prong

wiring disgarm from thier forum for the radar detectors.......

Black connector to top slot driver side row
Yellow connector to 4th slot down from passenger row
