Hmmmmm.... Car fax is only for used I think. You might try it though.

I doubt the dealer would admit to it if you inquired about it. Only way I know of is CarFax or similar, and if a dealer had a mishap with a car they could fix it internally without no outside knowledge and claim.

I can check if they warrentied anything on your car prior to delivery... I would need your vin.... Anything that an RO was opened for would show on your vin history through gm

You're are correct. Also, if there was any damage the dealer is still allowed to fix it and sell it as new if it was never titled. I don't think it needs to be disclosed as it's sold as new with an as new warranty.

Go to your local TV station that does a Consumer Advocacy Report. Of course if the dealership spends a lot of $$$ with the station you are SOL. My personal favorite is making a sign and stand out on the intersection by the dealership. It does pay to advertise. Biggest concern was that it was body parts only and not mechanical damage.

Actually, depending the state you are in, legally they may not be able sell that car as new if the car was damaged to the point that repair was needed. This is a consumer protection law that isn't a law just on cars, but general manufacturing and other goods.

The dealer where i got my car from in Michigan just had someone wreck a new GXP on a test drive. My sales guy was telling me that the repairs have to be disclosed to whom ever buys the car. But like you said, it looks like it depends on the amount of damage. I don't know all the details of how bad the GXP was damaged.

Hope you can get something worked out!

CLAIM HISTORY
R.O Date R.O Number Type Labor Operation Odometer Reading
09/05/2008 151583 T A0018 - FRONT BUMPER FASCIA REFINISH/CLEAR COAT 1 miles
09/05/2008 151583 T A1530 - REAR SIDE DOOR REFINISH/CLEAR COAT - RIGHT SIDE 1 miles
08/26/2008 A02856 I Z7000 - PRE-DELIVERY INSPECTION - BASE TIME 0 miles

It looks like (from the mileage) that it was probably damaged in transport. My guess is that it was either done before the dealer ever got it, or when the dealer pulled it off the truck the damage was there and the first thing they did was have it repaired.

By the way for all the people screaming Carfax, that only applies if an insurance claim has been made or a Police report has been filed. I HAD a very rich friend that went through cars like underwear and got in wrecks a couple times a year and never reported them, just had the damage repaired on his dime, and thus his cars always had clean carfax's when it was time to sell....shady, shady, shady!

Thanks!
I doubt this was anywhere near $1,000 repair cost. Guess I'll just have to suck it up. FWIW, the refinish was done very well; I checked the car over pretty good before purchasing and didn't notice anything. And metallic silver isn't easy to match. The only other problem I've had so far (~1,000 miles) is the drivers' side marker leaks when I wash it; noticed water vapor inside it. No steering shakes, no wobbles or pops in front, so I guess I'll count my blessings at this point. I got my recall notice in the mail yesterday, so now I have to decide what dealer to use for that. The dealer I purchased from is about 50 miles; there's another Pontiac dealer about 10 miles away that I have used in the past. I may call the purchase dealer just to see what they say about the undisclosed damage.

That whole situation sucks but...I was thinking if they repainted the entire front fascia you probably have a better finish then mine which was painted from Holden. Your's will probably hold up better to stone chips and bugs, if they used the proper mixture of flex additive when the paint was mixed. I'm would assume they did.

I would ask for the GM square to be replaced if not put back on the car then placed in your hand to throw in a drawer. It was part of the car and should be in your possesion.

Go ask for free oil change, rotation, and car washes... retribution!

I get what you're saying, but with my luck with dealer service, I would get my car back leaking oil, the steering wheel shaking and swirls in the paint...
