So I've come to the decision to purchase a couple hundred cones and make my own course at the local stadium or find a track close to drive to. I would prefer a road course so I could also get some drifting in.

Any suggestions? Cheap cone store?

South Charlotte. I found a cone track at the stadium in Fort Mill, but I want something more.

I love the drive to Tenn BTW. I26 is my kind of road

I just noticed the Charlotte as your location, sorry I didn't see it earlier. My wife and I get down to Charlotte well try to look ya up some time. I've driven on the road cross at the BMW plant (dogged the shit out of M Roadster and 911), might try there??

I've done that already :) Best time is in the morning on a Sunday for that. I'm looking for something with a couple curves and a nice straight away on a closed course.

I just passed it on my way back from Anderson. Didn't even think about them having one. What does it take to drive on the course?

I'll take you up on that offer. I somewhat remember my mother saying she knew someone that worked there. I need to check into that.

Almost every NASCAR circle track will have some type of road course in the infield. When they're not running the oval, it's a good bet that someone renting the road course.

Check out SCCA, NASA, Chin Motorsports and other sites. I know there are some autoxes near you.

Look what I found, Carolina MotorSports Park. The track was designed by famed track designer Alan Wilson and built in 1999 by a group of investors led by Bob Humphreys and Joe Hooker. Carolina Motorsports Park is a 2.235-mile 14-turn road course located in Kershaw, SC about 65 miles South of Charlotte, NC.

I plan on going there as soon as possible, I'm checking the website for info. Seems to be 140 for a day?

Now THAT looks like a fun track. At least, the full course looks like fun. And, $140 for a track day is a good price. We pay $125 at No Problem Raceway, but I know that many "famous" tracks can charge $300 and up.

First time out you get an instructor to make sure you know what your doing. I'm still checking on price, but it sounds like (reads like) you get 4 to 6 - 20 min laps a day with similar grouped cars. They also say you can just show up after work, get a couple laps in, and be home in time for dinner, so I'll be finding out more after the holidays. They have you sign up and pay 2 weeks before hand, and it's open rain or shine.

I'll post more when I know, but I can't wait. I'm buying a helmet online now :) ebaY has G-FORCE outlet with half price helmets

LOL I'm shocked Fort Mill has a stadium. I've been there a ton of times. The company I worked for for 14 years has their head quarters there.

Those prices sound reasonable. Now all I need is to get my damn GXP!! Unless, of course they don't mind a Tahoe barreling around their track at a low rate of speed.

When we picked up my wifes BMW 550i, we got to drive a 550i on the track. It was a blast abusing someone elses BMW on that track. The instructor emphisisezed one important guideline. NYC (not your car). After we were done, he took a few of us around the track in a M5.....wow.

I have done track days at Carolina Motorsorts Park and Virginia International Raceway(http://virclub.com/) .I was on a two wheels when I road those tracks, have yet to make there on four. I hope to make a few track days with the G8 or build track only car.

CMP is a decent track, but not great. Now, I'd still be in if we want to get a few G8 guys together.

Looks like they have a few events in June.

VIR would be my favorite though..
