Okay...I am building another fiberglass sub setup for another forum member..

Today was

day 1.... 01JUNE09

after this one is built, I will be taking a mold for future builds.....so for all you guys that will want one, I will be able to get them done quicker...
This one will be again for dual 12w6v2's....and very similar to the other one I did.

I will be adding pics to the build as I go...

1....get the Baltic birch
2...clean up all the left over tape from my last build....OOPS...
3. apply Mold release....Not using tape this time since it was a pain in the balls to get all of it off.
4. apply the 2nd layer of mold release.
5. spray the 3rd layer of mold release...

Note....This thing has no frickin chance of sticking....

DAY 2 02JUN09

Okay got about 30 oz of mat and 60 oz of resin applied....

God, for someone that uses polyester resin on a regular basis, I still hate the smell and soon plan to switch to epoxy resin just for the lack of smell..

Plus, I use the good resin and not cheap hardware store stuff, so it is even more pungent......

Mold removed to start reinforcing without the hassle of killing my back doing it in the trunk...

Also no more mess from tape...All that is left is a film that can be washed with soap and water...YAY!!

Day 4---04JUN09

The first mold of the enclosure went terribly wrong.....Were going to have another go at it.....

If it does not work.....Ill leave it til next time....I need to get this one finished and shipped by WED the 10th so no wasting time...

Here is the finished tub. Its at least 1/4 inch thick all the way around, covered with wax right before I spray the PVA....I'll attempt the mold again tomorrow....

What is this mold release you speak of? I hate dealing with the tape afterwards.

partall paste wax and PVA...from www.shopmaninc.com

Apply the wax with a rag and spray the pva with a $15 mini detail sprayer from Harbor frieght...

Your getting good at this. Why do you have the rubber hood vent in the trunk of your car?

I hope I am good at it, I have been doing it for a long time....

The hood vent is, well from my hood.... I just have not taken it out:)

Day 5.......05Jun09

Mold is in progress...I got 3 layers of mat and 2 layers of cloth downall the way around...and underneath, as the first layer, I did a resin/rage extreme milkshake...that should give me a pretty smooth mold..

Now gotta wait til it is cured so I can pop the part out and add a litle more strength to the mold. I might make it about 3/8 thick....Just gotta see how rigid it is. Dont want any warped parts coming out of a flimsy mold ....

Here is the mold curing..Oh and it wont be dark like cured fiberglass due to the added White filler in the resin....So thats why it will look thin...

MAde some progress but cannot load pics to my cardomain site....It will have to wait till tomorrow....

Anyways the actual enclosure is built, sealed and curing right now....
Tomorrow I will cover it and screw the terminals in and it is done...

Then...

I will make the new floor panel, grill and cover them both and add some custom touches to it......

Then it will be ready to ship.

This one is going to be pretty cool.....changed it up a bit.

And added a custom touch to it....Good thind I can airbrush huh.....
I wonder how many people will try to pick up that big old emblem? HEHEHE!!!
The color is actually a royal blue...but the flash makes it lighter..
For the record....This is the first time I used an airbrush for a stereo build....I think I will do more in the future...

This one weighed in at 20lb...which is prettty good for 2 12's....

Ill have to PM you the prices....cause I dont want to break the rules here...

But these are custom built to the sub of your choice...so prices will differ depending on what options you want......

Ok ladies and gentlemen I have set back and watched NDM's progress with great anticipation. This setup will be going into my Silver GXP. Housing 2 JL Audio 12w6's. All I can say is .....

I CAN'T WAIT TO TILL IT GETS HERE!!!!

NDM has completely blown me away with his consistent contact, his ridiculous attention to detail, and down right awesome progress!!!!

I will tell you this gentlemen is quite the madman with fiberglass!!!!

As soon as this gets here and it stops raining in DC, I will have the install done along with pictures and a complete review!

If you are even thinking about getting someone to make a custom box for you I would completely recommend NDM!!
