I want to put the intake tube and flowmaster exhaust/xpipe on and remove the second set of cats and the large resonator, but have heard it's best to let your car break in before modding it, if so how many miles? 5,000? Thanks.

2500-3000 should be more then enough.

You don't think a K&N drop in air filter, cags skip shift eliminater and BP catch can would hurt to put on before aforementioned break in period expires, do you?

I think I only made it to about 90. Whoops. :D However I do plan on trying to stay off of it for the next couple of hundred miles. Hell my 06 GTO only had close to 400 on it when I put it up on a dyno.

Damn, I'm in between 500 and 600 miles, pretty good progress I think for owning it since 05/26/2009, 8 miles on it when purchased. I want to have everything done to it right away, but also want to do things right, so i'm going to have to wait. I hate re-doing shit.

I might be wrong here but aren't those engines run tested after they are assembly and break is just for a few hundred miles 500 or so. Try to keep WOT in check for that time frame. Don't drive the MPH all the time even up and down. Change oil and filter and enjoy.

Funny everybody talks about engine but there is a brake in period for the differential and if manual transmission then that to. I've had this discussion with engineers at Eaton, Torsen, Borg Warner and GM tech center employees all seem to agree that it could take up to 3,000 miles for these assemblies to be properly run in. Part of the reason we have a stepped break in procedure. I usually wait till about 3,000 this way I can take my car to the dealer for the mandatory fix of little things that come up with a new car that need to be addressed without hearing that my after market parts are causing any issues. I have a tune and intake sitting here untouched because I have a more noticeable than usual rough idle and a very noisy throw-out bearing and don't feel like explaining myself. They would not dare to try and feed me BS as my BS meter is finely tuned but bone stock saves me waisted breath. Just my 2 cents.
