The problem, from what I hear, isn't necessarily the performance that is delivered, but the fact that the performance is delivered unreliably.


The bad news is that after we recorded our test numbers, Hennessey's driver went out and did 10 successive launches in an attempt to get slightly better times. He didn't, but that abuse fried the stock torque converter, even though Hennessey assures us the $1200 upgrade he now offers would survive.

Only offered a torque converter upgrade after they figured out that they could potentially destroy the stocker no doubt. Regardless, it remains an OPTION when it should be included with the package.


The things that should be done to bolster the rest of the driveline according to the increase in power should be part of a package that boosts power as much as this does; they simply aren't included. That's insanity.

I've read bad things about this guy as well! But have also read where hennessey vehicles have been fast as shiznit! But you probably want to look at reliability and life of hennessey upgrades more than anything.

It looks like they MAY offer some options on their packages, but that's where I have a problem with it. If you're offering a package for $15-$20k above sticker price for a car, why not throw all that crap in there in the first place, and especially at that price?

come on guys.... if you go to one of the favored G8 tuners on here and ask them to throw a maggie cam and heads on your car they will, even if you tell them not to upgrade your tranny and rear end... caveat emptor

When people become complacent with letting others get screwed like that it keeps scammers like that guy (and others *cough*) in business. People that pull that crap should NOT be allowed to have it forgotten!

When I ask the question I did not think it would end up in a beat down on him, All I wanted was a view who went to his shop or new about it. I did not know all the bad but it is good to know since this is a Performance Shop that might be into doing G8's or the camaro for someone on this site..If it is a proven fact he does screw people then it is good to know... I am not one to bash anyone unless it can be proven that in writing....and the proof is there.

Hennessy has always been about speed over reliability... He builds 10/10s cars... hat sai his cars do sometimes break when driven hard. So do other tuner shops cars. If you are getting your car modded that is a risk you take. Now doe that make it any easier when your car does blow a tranny? No of course not. On the other hand did I as kid dream about owning a Hennessy Venom (http://www.hennesseyperformance.com/ItemDetail.php?Item_ID=238&cart=gDdYDEWW&DoThis=Dodge+Viper+(2008)&ActionReq=Where)? Of course I did. Then I discovered the small bloc and started wanting Lingenfelters and Livernois(es?)... as I said before... caveat emptor.
