A Buddy has a '97 Chevy 4x4 truck. His brakes are starting to feel spongy, but the master cylinder doesn't show any signs of leaking. Power brakes, four wheel disc.
My initial thought is that the rubber lines that go from the hard lines to the calipers are starting to give more and should be replaced. What do you think?

I haven't visualy inspected each caliper yet, but those usually fail differently, right? Thanks in advance.

These trucks were notorious for this issue. Change the front hoses and bleed the system. FLUSH the brake fluid while doing this. Once its bled, roadtest and get up tp 50 mph on a clear road, hit pedal hard and see if it goes into a ABS type stop(you can hear the pump). Do this 3 times and the pedal should be full. You can also do this before changing the hoses to see if the pedal comes up. If it does, flush and bleed system and repeat ABS stop test.

Thanks Charlie.
I guess he had the ABS module (?) replaced not too long ago, but it was just the electronic part.
Thanks again.

Charlie, it turns out it's a 2001. Does this change anything?
