Allright, I'm completely out of ideas at this point in time.

Just received a set of DDM 35w 6000k HIDs. Did the install, only the driver's side works. Ok, so I read all of the threads and figure maybe I just need to to cycle the lights. Doesn't change a thing. I checked the passenger side fuse just in case, but it was fine. At this point in time I was thinking bad bulb/ballast/connection. To make the long story short I have tested all bulbs and ballasts in different combinations, and they all work, but only in the driver's side housing. What the hell? Just to make sure it's not a power issue, I disconnected each side completely but nothing changed. The last idea that I had is maybe I somehow messed up the passenger side harness. I plugged the factory bulb back into the passenger side and it worked just fine, so it wasn't the harness.

Does anyone have any idea what I should try next?

You have to reverse the terminals on the passenger side HID connector. As in positive to positive and negative to negative.

The connector on the harness on my kit will only go on one way. Besides, if I was connecting positive to negative and negative to positive wouldn't I have blown a fuse? Why would the passengers side be any different than the driver's side?

The same thing happen to me with the passenger side. Do this connect everything the way your suppose to. Then flip the factory yellow plug to the HID kit plug.

I got my kit from DDM and had to cut the tab out of connector that plugs in to the factory bulb spot to make them work on both sides. So far no problems and no harness.

Thanks DRCUSTOMPARTS and everyone else. This was exactly the problem. I cut out the tab on the harness plugged it in backwards and now everything works.

As a side even at 35 watts this kit is a lot brighter than the factory OEM HIDs that I had on my BMW. I'm glad I didn't get 55.

I'm also glad you didn't get 55. I don't know why some people would think it'd be acceptable to.

uhhhhh...i have a 55w kit...am I unacceptable? maybe you should watch what you say as to not sound so self-righteous ;)

My harness on the driver side was reversed polarity. when i put it in such that the clip lined up with the notch, it popped a the headlight fuse. I did some voltage checks and found the issue and turned the connector around...it doesnt look or feel right, but it is right. If you flip it around, make sure you check your headlight fuse again

I also have a 55W kit installed. Maybe we should start a support group since we are so unacceptable... :spank:

My kit was also from DDM and had reversed polarity on the drivers side. An easy fix that seems to be common. I posted up the same question as the OP and recieved the same responses. Worked exactly as it should have, it just required a little modification.

It's MY eyes you guys are going to destroy when you hit a bump and I get 55w of HID lighting directed right at me. Even 35w HIDs are more than enough.

My kit was the same way w/ the reverse polarity, but I didn't go through the hassle of cutting off the tab. I stuck a micro screwdriver inside and swapped the pins so I could install it the right away. Took 10 seconds.

thats what adjustable pitch is for. only takes a philips screw driver ;)

after installing my kit, i left them at stock height for one day and was flashed by everyone on the road...i lowered them quite a bit to be courteous to other drivers. i know for a fact that my lights arent even close to the brightest on the road...so i'm not too worried about it. plus, helps IMMENSELY while driving at night

:nud:

I keep my lights aimed where they should be. It only took 5 minutes to aim them properly and I haven't had a single person flash me since.

I don't think that's good enough. I don't want that in my eyes even for a split second when you hit a bump, etc.

Unless you're laying down in the road, You won't have a problem. Stop staring at my headlights and pay attention to your driving. I've passed hundreds of drivers at night since putting them in and adjusting them and not a single one has flashed me ever! But I somehow managed to get complaints from someone who has never even been in front of my car....hell with it....nevermind.

Not to get off topic with your bickering :boxing:, but is there an autolevel version of the HID's out there? BMW's, MB's and others have stock HID's with autolevel, or is this not an option with aftermarket HID's?

Your right, I did get off topic from what the OP was asking. Back to the topic of installations of HIDs. I have never seen the auto level version of HIDs. That would be pretty interesting to see how it would work on our cars.
