I had a 3200 stall and a custom cam installed last week. The shop is having trouble tuning the tcm. Is anyone else having trouble with there's. I believe he is using hp tuning software. Is there anyone in Houston or close that can get this lined out. I miss my car

You may talk to wreckwriter. I think he may have some shifting problems.

Have the shop do the best they can with it and then call VMS or Livernois Motorsports and get their tune in the mail. They're both excellent at tcm tuning. That'll get you home and then you'll have to wait but hey ... you'll end up with a perfectly tuned tcm.

Check with ICON Motorsports. They should be able to take care of it. They just tuned one for me with a cam and 3200 stall.

Did you install a tranny cooler also. Make sure all the steps were followed closely for filling tranny fluids......if not it will never tune right......this is very important from past experince......HPTuners shoulod get you driving reg....but for better performance see VMS

What kind of issues are they having with the TCM?

Do you know what type of clutches Circle D uses in their converter? Is it a stock type clutch?

If the trouble is in connecting to the TCM, cycle (out/in) the fuse under the hood.

I'll make a guess that it's in the limiter on 1-2 and 2-3 shifts. First time I've heard of that in a mildly modded car.

I'm guessing your guy hasn't done a lot of these transmissions?

He has done a few but this is his first 09 GT with a converter. He has worked on serveral GXP's.

He said when you floor it. The car feels like it's cutting in and out at normal driving it shifts great.

Interesting. Could be the converter is locking and unlocking? What brand converter is it? Is it happening in just one gear, 2nd perhaps, or all?

Well, I hope that's not what the issue is. I would ask the shop to verify that its not though.

I'm picking the car up today and I found a local guy on HPtuner.com that can tune the TCM. I

So you determined that the converter was not locking and unlocking? Please let us know the end result.

Hey guys,
I use to have all of these problems when I first installed my 3600 stall. It now drives like it should. I did this several months ago, so my memory is a bit hazy on what fixed what. Here are a couple of things I did to tune the trans.

First, I changed all of my shift points and completely removed TQ. The shifts with TQ enabled were more noticeable because of the loss of power. With TQ completely disable, it is difficult to know when the car shifts. Smooth as silk.

I was having issues with the stall locking and unlocking during driving on the highway. To solve this, one of the things I had to do was deaden the knock sensors. The TCC will unlock if knock is detected. There is no knock occurring but the sensors are sensitive to changes of the rotating mass.

I also adjusted my TCC vs throttle position lockup. I made it so that the throttle could be pressed down more and still engage the TCC. On the highway, I can lay into the throttle a bit to pass people and not have my TCC unlock. I think I have it set to 40% throttle or so.

There probably were some other things I did but can't think of them right now.

EDIT: I just remembered that it took my about 7 runs at the track to finally get my shift points under WOT nailed down. I kept hitting my fuel cutoff which I think I have at 6600 or so and I was trying to shift at 6400-6500. I just had to keep moving my MPH shift points to the left.

EDIT: Another thing, is to make sure you have the correct amount of fluid in your car. I was a bit low after installing my stall and trying to dial in the TCM when you are low on fluid it a total waste of time. I tried filling the trans fluid in my garage with no luck. Bought it to the stealer and ended up being a quart or two low. This helped a TON.

Hope this helps some people.
