Whistle

Ever since I installed my Roto-Fab CAI I have noticed a whistle/hiss sound when the engine rpms are between 2000-2500 rpms. It's not the alternator because it didn't do it before the roto-fab.

I can only hear it form the outside (windows open) it cant be missed.

Anyone else have this or any ideas?

I'll reply to my self..I found on a couple other boards that other people had the same sound. It must be normal.

I've had the CAI on there for awhile but I didn't know if the sound was normal.

It's quite common to hear a whistle after an cold air intake install. The air rushing past the throttle plate causes it. Removing the intake resonator allows us to hear it.

Sorry to dig up an old thread but I'm trying to use the search function.

I'm noticing a whistle at idle on my car. It seems to be more noticeable since I've removed the engine and the intake covers. Is that normal?

I noticed the idle whistle on my stock GXP as well. I thought she was just board and waiting for me to hit the road.

You hear it a lot in the garage.

I have the whistle as well. Especially right after start up.

Same here, I rather like hearing the whistle. Also love hearing the engine growl much more due to the intake.

I have recently developed a whistle...or perhaps an alternator whine at idle. Barely audible inside the car.




Well, then again, I have a lot more whine under full throttle. Really don't know what to make of it...
