Grill trim question

I thought I had read this already, but can't find the specific thread. What is the best primer/paint for my grill trim to match the PBM and factory honeycomb grills? And for prep work, will 400 grit work sufficiently or is more work needed?

Thanks for any input or a reference to a previous post.

Here's what I found on the other G8 site:

I lightly sanded the grill and arrow, and masked off the red portion of the arrow with painters tape. I then applied several coats of Krylon black gloss plastic paint and carefully removed the painters tape while the paint was still wet.

Sweet! DIY and save dough! What grit sandpaper did you use?

220 just to rough it up a bit before painting.

So the painting was done while the surrounds still on the car? I thought i read somewhere that they could be removed easily?
