I have a friend with a G8 that wants to paint his engine cover but isn't sure what paint to use and if there is a certain way to do it because of the heat. I know some of you have done it already. What kind of paint did you use and is there anything special you had to do to keep the heat from destroying it?

I haven't done mine, but I would imagine you could use any paint that was for high temps, ie. engine enamel:

Regular paint on mine, the top of the cover doesn't get that hot.

I used regular paint on mine as well. No problems yet.

The best thing to use is paint for plastic, it will adhere better than paint for metal. Krylon makes an excellent paint for plastic with many colors to choose from.

+1 It does adhere a bit better. Fine sanding first helps too.
