View Full Version : Check out my RPM... Weird!

So i've noticed some real weird flare going on after the 1-2 shift at WOT, so i whent out and bought a Dashhawk to log the data. Here's my 0-60 runs, It happend on the first 2 runs, nothing on the 3rd... Any ideas?

Looks like the gear isn't fully changing, or your TM is trying to insulate the shifts and is gradually applying the clutches... Mine used to do that. Any programmer worth his salt should be able to fix it right up for you

Question is why would it only do it sometimes, or should i say most of the time? I've been looking through my tune and i don't see anything in there that could be causing it, TM has been disabled.

I think you might be on to something, matching the speeds, comparing the 1st and 3rd run at 52.2 MPH (which is where it peeks and flares on the first run) there's almost a 1000 RPM diffrence between the to runs when it reaches 52.2, almost like it's reving up too fast then the engine cuts it back, what do you think. You could see that that the RPM raises significantly faster during the runs that cause the flare.


EDIT: Any idea what would be a good parameter to moniter with the dashhawk during these to tell if it's TM of some sort? TM spark retard or something.

Timing advance will show the TM.

Are you still using the stock torque converter, if not, which one are you using?

Yes it's a stock converter.

I don't really have any help for you. However, I would like to add that I'm running a superchips 91 octane tune @ the 75% TM setting (100% is the superchips setting) and I have noticed some strange flares as well, with AFM both on and off in the tune. Under both WOT and simply driving around in manual accelerating a little less than half throttle (most noticeable around 40 mph in 4th if memory serves). Under WOT it bounces of the limiter every once in a while on the 1-2 shift. I've been thinking it was a little slip in the stock converter or maybe the converter locking up. After seeing this it worries me a bit. I would like to know what the experts have to say as well.

I as well get a few flares every once in a while. Not sure what it is... As long as it not all the time, im not to worried about it.
