I finally found the time to install the black window trim and door handles from Crazy Paul. The door handles came unpainted so I sent them over to Peterg22000 to paint them. He did a kick ass job and shipped them back to me the day after he got them... and it was 1/4 of the cost of what the body shop quoted to do it. Thanks Peter. Here are some pictures of the final result. It took me about 45 minutes to do everything, even with only one good arm! I am also planning on blacking out the chrome on the grille and throwing on a set of gunmetal 19" Breyton race GTS wheels to complete the look. Although, now that the chrome window trim is gone, black wheels might look good too. Then again everyone and their mom has black wheels...

Thanks! Gotta figure out what to do with the grille. I like the black ones from RaceMesh Precision Grilles but they are move expensive than a high class hooker! I figure I will try to do paint them myself before spending that kind of cash.

That is the way it should have been from the factory.

Man you have done exactly what my goals are. I have the black window trim and have done the upper parts already.

I am kind of chikenshit about taking the door panels off because I seem to be adept at breaking any and all "clips" I have to pull or pry loose. Plus I need to order the door handles yet.

The Breytons are on order and should be going on by Saturday.

I think I'm one of the few who actually like the chrome accents. To each their own right. Looks good without too I might add.

The door panels don't need to come off for either the trim or the door handles. If you roll the windows down the trim on the doors pops right off if you pull up. The clips will probably break but there are clips on the new pieces, so who cares? Just be careful not to scratch the paint with the sharp corners of the door trim. Good luck!

I'm in the minority I guess. I love the chrome accents on the window trim and especially the door handles. Makes the car look "upgraded", imo.

Everyone has their own opinion and I think there are just as many G8 owners who like the chrome as those who prefer to go the other route. I think on darker colors the lack of chrome gives the car a sportier look. But like I said that's just my opinion. I don't think that the chrome looks bad either, I am just going for a certain look for my car.

Just did my window moldings.

I still have to buy the door handles.

Unless there's a black V6 out there looking to trade.

Man I was told the doors needed to come apart.......so if I roll the windows down and just pull up on the pieces they pop right off? I was told to put tape on the doors under the corners of the pieces to avoid damaging the paint.

Do that or use some heavy paper (I used a few lottery ticket cards). The door moldings are tougher than the long window molding.

This is how I did mine because that is what the instructions I had said to do. Since the front door trim has just (1) clip at the rear corner, I guess you could remove that clip and then pull the trim out from between the door and side window. Then slide it in and engage the clip when re-installing it.
