138 due to limiter. However, I have used cruise control at 125 for many miles. I made my long awaited trip to really push it. I passed mile marker 2 at 1:15:08 and passed mile marker 113 at 2:19:27. About 103.5 average for 1:04:19. Would have hit my 107 target but there was other traffic for about 8 miles that kept me below 90. Oh yeah, I passed 2 of that states finest on the way. One hit me with laser and one with Ka. No catchy.

But it was pulling for more.

120mph but I wasn't going for a top speed run, just had a nice 5 mile or so road open with a wall on each side so I was pretty safe with no traffic. Once I get a dyno tune to remove the limiter, I'll push it harder.

I was showing my wife just how stable the car is at speed. After we were already doing 115 or so, I let her know. She ws pleasantly amazed.

My dad is talking about taking his Z06 down to the Texas Mile, maybe I'll see how close to the rev limiter I can get in that distance. What are the Summer 18's rated for anyway?

I saw on one of the British TV car shows (not Top Gear) they got 170 MPH out of the Vauxhall VXR8. Apparently when you buy a super car grade saloon in the UK they don't nannify it to keep insurance drones happy.

Here is everything you wanted to know to join the 130 MPH Club at Bonneville. The run is four miles long! Sadly, you cannot break 139.999 MPH. HOWEVER what is not clear to me is if the 139.999 requirement is the "average" speed (seeing how this is done at a dead stop you'll get well over 139.999 before hitting the average speed max. If you break the 139.999 maximum you are disqualified and not allowed additional runs, they will also not give you the time slip.

One other requirement, you need to HARD MOUNT a 5 pound fire extinguisher in cabin to do the run. Zip ties and/or duct tape are called out specifically as not meeting this requirement. Not sure how this could be achieved in a way that the mounting was "hidden" from the world once your runs are done. First thought that comes to mind is remove the passenger seat and mount it on the floor where the passenger seat would be.

Other requirement is a retaining bracket for the drive shaft (don't know if we have one) and the requirement for stainless steel valve stems and caps.

Here is another description of the Bonneville 130 Club. If we had a meet there, I'd definetely be in as it is in my back yard. It is a 1 mile course with the precision timing setup during the last 130 ft. or so. You have to go from a stop and can't exceed 140 during the run. I've been to the salt and it is not easy. Traction basically doesn't exist so it is not like the track.

Incidentally there is also a 150 Club but you need a cage, harness, and suit to join it.

Yeah it is a fun stretch of land which is straight for about 8 miles and just slight turns for the next two miles then it starts to weave. I miss GA. Now I am up in PA where you have 1,000 hills and never even want to do the speed limit for fear that someone if backing out of their driveway. Which is not somehting you want to come up on at any speed.

As of last Saturday, my new record is 173mph (Garmin GPS confirmed). Long, flat stretch of desert highway (the type of road that's straight for miles) with practically no cars and a decent tailwind. Keep in mind, I only have a Vararam intake and Vector Tune. I don't remember how many miles it took to get there, but I know there was about 6 miles from the onramp I started on to the next exit and I had slowed down well before that exit. 130mph came up pretty quick. From about 165 on up was pretty slow. With the Pedders Track II kit, the car was pretty stable. btw, I had scoped out that stretch just prior to the run just to make sure it was clear. That would have been one MAJOR ticket as the speed limit was 70mph.

I was able to run on an airport runway in a small town in Idaho. I did not watch the speedo, but the Garmin GPS recorded a new top speed of 157 before I had to shut down. Nope - I was counting the gears, LOL. Was near the top end in 5th. However 6th is so high there probably isn't enough torque to hold the speed, 6th is more for fuel economy then speed.

It is an impressive run, and amazing to know I have ride capable of THAT.

On the day I went to the dealership to test drive a G8 GT and during the test drive I asked the sales lady if I can punch it and she said yes! So I took this White Hot G8 GT up to 130MPH+ and she told me to back off because she did not expect me to take it that fast on the first test drive lol She started freaking out while my friend sitting next to me couldn't stop laughing. I wish I had this on tape it was so funny! She was txting her girlfriend or something in the back seat while I was doing 130+. Something was wrong with this salesperson! I ended up not buying from her but from a different sales person at that dealership.

Because of my credit score (I guess lol), and they let me have a different G8GT for the night. It was a 09 Sport Red. I wasn't planning to take the car home, I just wanted to get a feel of the car but they insisted I take it home. I was planning on going to Wilmington, NC that night to hang out with some friends. On the way back around 3AM, I topped off the Speedo at 137MPH. I was in love with this car, it handled so well at that speed. I was going to buy a G8 anyway! My friend sitting next to me snapped a pic!

I bet you have the stock Goodyear RSA's that are V speed rated. The ECM would have a much lower speed (not RPM) limiter that the W rated summer tires that some come with. I have had one of each and know for a fact that the summer tire car can go way past (mph) where the A/S tire car hits the limiter.

I've gone 143 on numerous occasions with the superchips programmer. It sucks because it shifts into 5th and then cuts out. I want to get a real tune but am worried about voiding my warranty.

Is that a superchips top speed, I pulled hard to 145 w/ rotofab CAI and cortex tune but never really had the urge to go faster, not on public roads.

I would say "fastest documented" would mean something on the texas mile or similar.... people simply running in mexico holds no water and is freakin stupid as hell.... got more hp than brains... Everybody that does crap like this thinks nothing can happen but when a little old lady pulls out or changes lanes...now its her fault..... way too many people die due to this s hi t.... just dont be stupid.... if you do crash then hopefully the group wont feel sorry for you and/or will support you.... and if you do live, then you will be servicing bubba for the rest of your natural born life....

30.408709, -94.522247: Put that into your locator and take a look. Farm to Market Road 1293 between Kountze and Thicket, TX. About 14 miles, 8 or more of it straight as an arrow. OUT IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE. Two lanes built on an old timber railroad tram cut deep into the Big Thicket region of Texas in the 1880's to get lumber to rebuild Chicago after the fire. Still nothing out there but timber farms. No houses. No signs. Few road signs. No utilities. No utility poles to hit. Few side roads to supply a mid-run suprise. Not a sisngle business for ten miles. From one end to the other you'll average about two oncoming cars. It is deserted. Hell, it's out in the woods!

If you want to make a run PM me. I'll go with you and watch. From the side of the road.

Nope, the SC top speed with the limiter disabled is unobtainable.

Trigger showed 170mph on the dyno.

Not G8 but had the stang side by side with buddies bike. His speedometers read 183mph. I had more but ran out of room.

Be careful. One of these days somebody is going to get a gust of wind under the front and blow over backwards. That is the only thing that scares me.

I agree, I am glad that urge has left me. But also the Th400 gearing wouldnt allow me to do it now anyways lol. I agree high speed runs are stupid, wreckless, childish, and selfish. I am guilty of all the above :( If you want to be all of the above please do it late at night on a deserted road that the only thing that you will harm is yourself or a deer. High speed runs should not happen on the street. Chuck is right if you want to claim the fastest then head out to a Mile event. They have them all over the country several times a year and you can get a documented speed. All the rest of this I ran 170 or me 195 means nothing. Just like drag racing show me a time slip for your top end run. And if you are retarded enough to video your cars speedometer on the street you deserve the ticket the law could easily provide you.

I have to agree I'm not scared of much and I've done 147 pre procharger but now that I'm a little more mature I don't think that anyone should be doing those speeds on public highways if the cars built for the speed and I'm on the flats or Texas mile I'm all in!

140 - fastest I've gone in any car. I had the sunroof open, I'm guessing the sound was similar to a tornado, you couldn't even hear yourself think over the roar of rushing air. I backed off at 140 - and just as I got down to a more normal speed Washington's finest went by in the opposite direction - phew!

Only around a buck for me. To afraid of an officer hiding somewhere.

A guy on the "other board" claims 201mph. That is completely nuts!
