View Full Version : Custom taillights, beyond just smoked

The first step was to smoke the taillights on the dark side. While I like the lighter smoked lights, I needed to go dark for the second step. I love the look of the lower lights on the Gts, but can't fathom paying thousands for the rear conversion. I also don't like taillights that sit level with the trunk, had to change that as well on my old Cts.

Is this legal in most states? I thought there had to be so much reflective red on tail lights.

That looks real nice, I was thinking of doing what you did with the red, on my black gt. Im glad someone else did it already because I was trying to see what it would look like. Good job.

Is this legal in most states? I thought there had to be so much reflective red on tail lights.

Indiana the tail lights need to be seen from 100 ft. at night.

Hmmm, you could get damn close to mimicking the HSV tails like this...

Looking at it,it should be feasible to make them look like that, though I don't know about getting correct lighting masked off that heavily.

Those lights are much lower but they were definately the inspiration. As dark as the tint looks on the lights, the lights shine through pretty good.

We have reflectors on the diffusers... which you can also purchase overlays for and they are 100% effective.

Darkside, you did a great job on both ends of your car. I like what you did to the tail lights and what you did to the grill. I hope you don't mind but I am going to steal both of these ideas when I finally get one.:secret: - Lance

No problem, copy away. I hope to have the Gts front end on by the end of summer anyways.

I've been stopped twice in the last two weeks, and the taillights were never mentioned.

ahh gotcha... well, PM Flip, or send an email to flip@gpona.com and ask him about it, he does a lot with tails, and is currently working on a one-off set for me...

I had my tinted an tops painted white to match my car. Do a search with my user names for pics ive posted. I dont have any on this comp or id post them. If you dont find them send me a pm an ill send you some from my home pc..

wow whiplash your g8 is SEXY!! Exactly what I want to do with my roof too!! Now that I can actually see it done I definitely want to do it!! Im having my car going into the shop for the gxp nose (whenever they finally get the damn grill *grrrr*) Im going to ask them if they can do that to my tails
