on his 11 second run

AND

Mike @ NewEra used M&H DRs 275/50/17 that are 28" tall
on his 11 second run

Vette OEMs with hub rings? 9-10" wide I would think :)

Have you gotten your tires and rims ??? Did I tell you my car ran a
12.90@115 ?? Do I ever need some DRs. The guys in the stands said I
was still spinning at the 1/8 mile.

As soon as I find some rims I'm going to buy my tires. I've missed out on at least 3 pairs of rims in the last few days by a matter of minutes.

Your idea of cheap is not the same as mine :) $200 each is not cheap in my book :)

Hey edmanet & r33pwrd:

I'm going to PM you my address and cell phone number. If you guys find a deal on 4 wheels I'd be happy to take 2 of them. As I need some wheels for for Mickey Thompsons as well.

Are you guys going to use the radials or bias ply?

bias ply - http://www.mickeythompsontires.com/strip.php?item=ETStreet

radials - http://www.mickeythompsontires.com/strip.php?item=ETStreetRadial

The cheapest way to go is to get a set of F-Body 17x9", 50mm offset takeoffs.

I paid $100 for my two. $100 for BOTH wheels. I bought them from Panther 2, he bought them off Craigslist for the same 100 bucks.

These are 4th Gen WS6 and Camaro SS wheels.

Those are shorter than your stock tire size by an about inch. They will change your gear ratio. You will have lower gearing (higher numerically) with those. The 275/40 MTs (approx 26") are closer to factory. The 275/50 M&T (approx 28") is taller.

In other words, IDK.

Thanks, I think I'm going to try them.

That might help me with the stock converter. I will never be able to avoid 4th gear anyways because I plan on having close to 500RWHP/TQ by the time I get to the track..I just have to get it to hook. I'm planning on a 120 trap hopefully.

Changing nothing else, when I got mine to hook I was able to keep it in 3rd for the entire run on a 6400 redline. I stayed in the gas well after the stripe and still didn't bump the rev limiter.

Before I had traction, I was on the limiter well before the MPH cone.

I guess I could raise the limiter to avoid 4th, but I'm afraid I might be over-revving it by the end of the run. I'll just have to give it a try and bring the notebook so it can be changed between runs if needed. I will see.

I hope those tires will do it. The TQ the maggie makes off the line is the biggest problem..I would like to use all of it.

I wish there was a way to lock the rear suspension so it doesn't squat so much on launch. That way I could run wider tires without hitting the body.

I'll have some 245/40 18" Hossiers coming in on Friday. Hopefully they'll get rid of the tire spin I'm getting with the Nittos going into 2nd gear.

Without a lot, and I mean a LOT, more sidewall to deflect and wrinkle, a locked or solid suspension will give you less traction than you have now.

The slightest shock or bounce will cause the tire to lose grip.

Watch what happens to one of these cars when it hits the bump stops on the soft rear suspension.

Yeah, I didn't think about that. Those are radials, and pretty low profile. The 9.8 inch tread width should be enough I guess...Only time will tell:)

Personally after all I've been reading, I think you would be better off with the tire Mike at New Era is running. You have plenty of power off the line. With the taller tire you may get deeper into the traps before you run out of steam.
Of course, having both sets and telling us the difference between the two would make it a perfect world. :)

I bought those rims[free shipping and no tax]. Waiting for them to arrive.
DRs will be ordered next week.

Now here's a really stupid question. Will the stock lugs work or do I have to buy a different set ??
