Hey is there any real advantage over doing a dyno tune over just a street tune using a wideband to read A/F rations. I figure a street tune would be better since you can account for airflow better (vararam). Any reason why tuning on a DYNO too is a must.

i plan on getting a retune on the street so i can get the tcm the way i want when i am driving. The dyno just makes it easier for the tuner because it is a more controlled enviroment.

100% for sure its better. Its a real world test at that point. No dyno/shop can simulate 50-100 air speeds going into an intake and reducing heat soak.

Good to know, thanks for the info.

My tune was done first on the dyno than we drove it around and fine tuned it.

I prefer street tunes for the reasons you stated. Driveability is also better achieved from what I've experience with steet tunes as well, but dyno tuning ensures maximum power is achieved throughout the tuning process.

I prefer both. Street tune for drive-ability's sake and have a few different files (with minor spark map changes) to throw on the dyno later on and see which one puts down the most power. From the HW I've done, doing a good street tune with a WB will get you very close to max power. My tuner back home said I'd only be leaving 5-10Hp on the table.

I know Kirk said he does both when he sets up a tune for a mass audience.
