Well spring arrived for a few days in Cleveland. I finally had time to undertake my weekend project in my Pontiac Garage...

All the threads on this board about painting calipers finally prompted me to do it!

yea, that's sweet. From the looks of the driveway, your family is Pontiac through and through! :) (I see two 97-03 GP's there!)

Looking nice; just about the identical car as mine (although I shaved off the square GM logos) ... so it really helps me visualize the painted calipers as they would look on my ride.

Awesome job.

Did you paint those without pulling the calipers and brackets?

Yup. I used the brush that came with the Dupli-Color caliper kit for the first caliper, but then I went out and got an even small brush for the tight areas on the remaining calipers. I basically used little to no painters tape because the brush was so small.

K, thanks. Still haven't got around to doing mine. Need to swap out the brake lines too so its a bigger project.

In the background is a 1998 Grand Prix GT and a 2004 Grand Prix GTP. So as you can see, I'm very hopeful that the Pontiac brand survives the latest GM downsizing!

Looks good. I took the callipers off and sanded them down and cleaned them and then used the spay paint style. Took forever (Worth it)! Next time I will try the brush on kit.

Red dash?

I really wish I had gotten my hands on a black/red interior. Black on Black is great, but i cant get over that 2 tone.

All black is still a great classic look IMO...

What is the garage floor done with? How do you like it?

What is the garage floor done with? How do you like it?

For my garage floor, I used a two-part epoxy. I originally used a brand sold at Lowe's (two cans, $150 total), but then I painted the garage again using Sherwin Williams brand (also $150). I think both brands are good, but I did experience some minor peeling over time.

You have to be very careful with "hot tire" pick up. If you have been on the freeway for 30 mins and you come home, you don't want to park in your garage right away. While the brands claim they resist hot tire pick up, they don't guarantee against it.

Any minor upkeep on my floor, however, is totally worth it (at least for me). The epoxy gives such a nice, clean look, and it is something your neighbors and guests will notice. Think about this: The garage is the first room of our house that most of us enter when we come home everyday. And it is often the first room that our guests enter. It's a very important room.

Finally, I believe our G8 deserves a nice home. Make your G8 happy, and it will reward you on the road when you punch it! haha

Looks great. Question; you said you didn't have to remove the calipers or brackets, but doesn't your fourth picture show the caliper removed? I'm looking to do mine this week. Also, did you have enough time and paint having just one corner jacked up at a time? Thanks for any info.

Very nice, looks great! I ended up doing mine last night.

I used the same kit as you on my garage floor and had the same issues with the hot tires. If I ever stop spending money on this car, I'll probably do nature stone in the garage.

Looks good. I also did my garage floor like you but it peeled up like crazy. I called the company and they said to send in some peeled chips. They got back to me in a week and said my concrete was mixed with some chemical that would not allow the paint to adhere to so they refunded my money. the bitch was power washing the rest off though.

Ps how do you hang xmas lites on that house? Looks like a pain.

The best thing in the pictures is that garage! Very nice.

The calipers look great too.

I know on my Trans Am, I put a plastic shopping bag over the rotor and then used masking tape to tape off anything I didn't want painted. Then I used a paper plate in one hand and the rattle can in the other to shield anything else I didn't want painted. It worked great for me. Oh, I used red engine block paint so it would withstand the heat and it still looks great 4 years later.

The red calipers look great on your Gray Metallic G8. I'm planning on painting my calipers this winter - my G8 is Liquid Red - any suggestions on what color
to paint the calipers? I'm thinking dark gray or black.
