I appriciate that I just dont have the time for it anymore and would love to see someone enjoy it. I have been trying to sell it for a year, but I wont give it away either, some people have no idea what it costs to build a car like that. Shit there is almost 6k in exhaust on the car from Kooks:puke:

The best stock time I could do in my crappy GT 6.0 was a 14.0 :puke:

I should have waited for a G8 GXP L99 :damn: :)

P.S. - I have no patience though.....

Nice runs. Pretty good improvement over your last time out. That is pretty impressive for stock. Imagine what this thing will be able to do with a few bolt ons....

Did you go to Capital or MIR?

At 32k it is a steal.

Seems like a lot of Buick guys are gravitating to these cars. I just bought one but have no plans of giving up the old buford anytime soon.

$32k is a steal for that car. That is Crisafulli's (sp) old car correct? I know it well, VERY nice car and worth every nickle. The only problem I see with that car not selling is it is stuck somewhere between radical street car and race car so the market is limited. You couldn't buy that car and compete in a class like TSO with it easily since the cage, shifter and a host of other things would need modified or upgraded some of which would take away from the personality of the car. I think the lack of an 8.50 certification hurts it the most though especially when the car definitely has plenty of motor to go well into the 8's. Is it still running a lock up TH400 converter from PI?

You will find someone who wants it and when you do they will pay what you are asking without question.

Very nice runs on the GXP BTW. I weighed heavily on buying one but planning some type of FI (probably APS kit) so decided on a GT instead.

They won't where I'm at either Tom. Racing here last Saturday in 45-52 degree weather, DA was still 4500+ DA. Crappy air we have here!

Nice run Jay [correct?]. When I get my DRs we'll have to meet up at the track and you
can show me a few things. Then we'll stick the DRs on your GXP.

Dude, that is very impressive. That is totally flyin' for a stock time! You gotta be psyched about the car, even though it's your wife's daily driver.

*sigh* Very awesome! :)

Bring it down to Bowling Green and run TSO with it. You'll get a ton of interest adn may find a seller there. That would be the ideal place to take it and try adn sell something like that. BG isn't real strict on NHRA rules and I doubt you would get any hassle over the roll bar and we could always use another car in the class. A lot of people would make a big deal out of that car when Rob & Steve would show up with it.

I ordered the DRs. MT drag radials 275/40/17. I should have them by TUE. I should be able to get them mounted on WED/THU.

1GXP4ME by any chance what was your launch rpm's at and did you sport manual shift the car or did you just put it in drive and let her rip.

I launched @ about 1500 just rolling into throttle, as far as shifting it was just left in sport mode

This is going to bring an old thread back to life, but I think it will be helpful. I have been curious what tires your GXP has 1GXP4ME, are they Potenzas or RS-As? I also wonder if you know what the Density Altitude was when you made your record passes? You made some awesome runs, congrats! Are you waiting for cool fall air to see if you can improve on them?

I bet he is. I know I am. I owe Jay a run down the 1/4 in my car.

I have done the exact same thing, but have only launched at 750-1000, and at about 100' from the end of the run, the car goes into 4th and I lose time.

http://forum.grrrr8.net/showpost.php?p=131696&postcount=1

Did you do the 'hold in 3rd' trick on leave it purely in 4th? Even when I left mine in 3rd, I hit the rev. limiter and lost time and mph.

Your car is bone stock with the stock tune?

1GXP4ME
08-19-2009, 03:09 PM
Yes car is completly stock w/ Potenzas, The DA was between 700-800 ft, I am waiting for another cool day to shoot for some 12.60's w/ some negative DA. OLD_GOAT you cant hold 3rd in the GXP due to the 3.27 gear, unless you put on a taller tire.

Thanks for the update! You have definitely set the bar very high for the rest of us to shoot for. I have been very curious what tires you were running and in what DA. That is really good air. I won't see that up here in WI until at least September or October. I plan to keep my GXP out as long as I can and try to get one of those "great air with a tail wind days" to hit the track in fall. Since I am running RS-As, and a manual transmission, I'm doubtful that I will surpass your numbers, but I'm sure as hell gonna try. Thanks for giving the rest of us something to strive for, and great run!
