Does anyone have this and if so how did you install it?

I am a little nervous about drilling anything underneath but have to put my front plate on and would rather drill holes underneath than in the front for the stock bracket.

I woudln't do this on the G8. The front end is already low enough to be scraped by the average curb or parking block. Imagine if that was under it.

Don't mind the headers. I mounted mine on the passenger side following the line of the bumper.

It doesn't look like it will hang any lower than the corners of the bumper and I would much rather drill holes into the bottom of the bumper than right in the front for something I don't really want on in the first place.

How did you install it Featherburner? Mine came with instructions for using two different sets of fasteners and I am wondering which would work the best.

I used the well-nuts and machine screws supplied with the kit.

Awesome thanks. Is there anything I have to be careful near when drilling where you attached yours? I haven't taken mine apart too much yet to make sure I don't hit anything with the drill. Sorry for all the questions.

No, you'll be fine. It drills very easy. It's helpful if you have someone with a good eye to hold the bracket at the proper angle and depth while you mark the location. I put painters tape on the front edge so it didn't get scratched during mock up and under the bumper so I could mark the location. Then I had my helper hold the bracket on the marks and I eyed it up with my calibrated eye to make sure I was happy.

I haven't gotten a chance to install mine yet due to finals at school and crappy weather we seem to keep getting in the Houston area.

I will take some pics of the bracket from various angles (in case anyone would like to fabricate their own instead of buying one)and the install when I finally put it on (hopefully this weekend).

Does anyone have more pics of this plate bracket or any alternatives?

Has anyone come up with a NON-drilling option for front plate mounting?

Place in your windshield, and secure. No drilling required, lol.

I rode like this in Texas for many, many years without being pulled.

You could zip tie it to the lower grill possibly.

In other news, my Altec came on Monday. I'll get some install pics when I get around to it.

Yeah that's what I've done for years even though it's illegal here. I use the ol suction cup hooks. Never had a cop bother me about it.

Zip ties - no matter how tight you set it up, it always seems to cause wear from vibrations.

Just wondering if someone has thought of something I haven't.

thanks guys.

Well I got pulled over last night for no front plate so it was finally time to put it on. Sorry the pics are kind of crappy, my wife had the camera so I had to use my cell phone. It hangs just a little lower than the front spoiler but not too bad.

First some pics of the bracket in case anyone wants to make their own, the red is some 3M tape that I used to position it while I marked the holes to be drilled:

Thanks for the pics and info TXNessie84,nice install, that's where I will be putting mine. I just ordered one. Haven't had a ticket in 15 years, got one for speeding yesterday...think maybe the G8 could be a cop magnet. I have driven many cars over the years here in TX without a plate and no tickets, but I am pretty sure all local government is hungry for revenue.

The retractable plate looks interesting. I like the ability to have a plate and not drill holes. Where can I get one. Web site, etc. Thanks.

You still have to drill but they are at least underneath and not right through the front.

Here is a link to one place that has them: http://www.ninosport.com/Altec-Show-n-Go-License-Plate-holder-400U Maybe one of the supporting vendors here has them or can get them though.

I like that. I didn't know this was an option. I don't have a front plate on my just for that very reason, I don't want to drill freaking holes through my bumper. But if it's on the underside, who cares.

Thanks for the info and linkage! I'll probably be buying one of these once I get a few bucks in my pocket.
