Hey Executor have you dyno'd your G8 yet? At this point I will have to drop my signature as the fastest G8 in Oregon. It has felt like a vast waste land here until you showed up.

Cobra,
I haven't dyno'ed my car yet, but I am curious to it's real performance, especially now that I have the rotofab. I hear ya on the vast wasteland bit. I've only seen four other G8's, all of them GT's but the sightings were sparse over the course of three months! Two reds, one black and one grey. My dealership mentioned they've only sold five so far. How long have you had yours?

I'll be going on a road trip down to Cali in october, so I'll be heading through Oregon. Just for my info, what kind of cop cars do you guys have? :P

Brenden will be home for his Bday, and then off to the G8 get together on October 19th at the Tacoma Mall. Think he will be ready to start exploring ideas for a window decal? We going to be over on the Penney's /I-5 side, parking out along service road? Might be easiest to find and least likely to be in use. Could end up being the biggest G8 gathering yet, if everybody shows!:woohoo:

Wong's huh..Appreciate the info! Just want to put it on a dyno stock. Then after the mods to see the increase. Magnaflow 16795(on the way), Vararam(on the way), and VMS ECM/TCM with the powerflash cable. Best bang for the buck from what I've read!?!?

I think your right...the VMS tune is a very good way to go! It I were to do it over again I would go that route as well.

kind of glad I've waited for some mods. Research them and go with what you like or what suits you best. Read nothing but good reviews about Wong's, probably set up a time to do a run or two, hopefully this weekend.

does vetor do a 93 octane tune? On my TBSS I had issues as most had 93 tunes and mainly in the NW you get 93 octane tunes.... all the mail order tunes I tried in my TBSS had bad Knock retard.

Can't speak to that, maybe Executor999 can give you some details on it.

Vector? they can do 91 or 93 - i'm running 93 but once I get my own cables i'm going 92 since that's all I see around here
Executor999
04-01-2009, 08:11 AM
Confirmed. Vector does either 91 or 93. My car seems to be the sensitive type since I actually experience very mild knock retard with my stock tune using 92 octane. Kirk has been giving his all to adjust my 91 VMS tune to compensate. Since it still seems to be an issue with my stock tune, I will probably bring it to the dealer to get it checked out after all. I only hear light rattling when I'm driving at constant speeds, never during acceleration! Totally warped.
I tracked down a BP/Amoco station around here; I'm hoping they have real gasoline there and not this ethanol blend crap! :)

Do you have a 93 octane tune and run 92 octane gas?
Are you saying Vector is going to generate a 92 octane tune for you?

That would be GRRRR8 news for us! I am in the last batch of Vararam group orders. I am also waiting for Vector to get the flash cables in stock to order a tune and cable. Having a 92 octane tune would be great. I really don't want to get a 93 octane tune and run 92, and I also don't want to get a 91 octane tune and run 92. It would be great to get the full benefit of the 92 octane in the tune. I just don't know how many areas actually use 92 octane, to make it worthwhile for Vector to do this for us.

I think there are a few of us rowing that same boat.(92 tune) I think with a few of us going that route, he should be able to work something for us. I'm definetly interested since I will be buying the VMS tune with cables here soon.

It would be interesting to get Kirks opinion on whether a 91 or 92 tune would be worth the time & effort. I'm stuck in 92 country also. :hang:

Well im going trifecta tune on Sturday and it will be on 92 octane... nothing against mail order tunes but I really would like to try a local tuner that I can put it on the rollers with.

Heck yea it will be:flame: you will see a loss of 7-8 hp dropping the octane, But low engine speed you will feel a very nice increase in power along with faster response. Then of course the TCM tune to go with it will fix that soggy feeling.

So does this mean us Northwest folks may see a 92 tune? That would be awesome!

I would just use the 91 octane tune. We have not developed one for 92. Kinda seems like splitting hairs.

Well, I can now officially answer this "roll call".
Lowell here, Lake Stevens, WA.
Finally picked up our 09 GT yesterday. Purchased from Dave Smith in Kellogg, Idaho. 370 mile trek each way, but well worth it. Love the car, rides sweet!
Would have answered this roll call last night, but had to wash all of the bugs off (in the rain). Then spent alot of time looking at it while throwing back way too many cocktails! They really need one of those smiles you can insert for hangover!
