My G8 GT is a week old and thanks to this board I have discovered the Engineering mode.

However, I've noticed that my Battery Capacity is at 85% and doesn't change at all. Even after a 30 mile drive.

Does anyone know if that is normal?

VERY normal. I think mine was in the 70's over the winter but NEVER failed to start the car. Even when -22º degrees....:windy:

My battery was at 80% when I bought the car in January and after a 600 mi road trip went up to 96%.

Mine sits at a constant 85%, except when I went to the frive in movies last weekend, but now it's back up to 85%, so I assume that's the norm.

Interesting.....

I presumed that this was a percentage of total battery capacity, although thinking about it, it would be hard to measure with a sensor.

I wonder what it really measures. (e.g. Could it be something like the voltage drop during an engine start?)

Not hard to measure battery capacity... a lot of people do it.

Wow!

The only way I could can think of getting an actuate reading is by discharging the battery with a known load.

Is that what the system is doing or is it something else?

yea mine has only been showing 48% after a full charge.. charger shows full

and tonight i reflashed the PCM and has a full charge and only shows 8% lol..

From what I read it measures the charging current and voltage to estimate charge status, but in talking to my local field rep, he said they are not really accurate and it is rare to see it in the 90's (I asked because mine is typically in the 60's to 80's).
