Huge Supply problem with Holden 2 Piece Engine Covers

Sorry Guys,

The last time I was able to purchase any 2 piece Engine Covers was mid February.

Holden in Melbourne Australia promised a new production run of covers would be done on 13th March. That did not happen.
Then they promised it would happen at the end of March. Nothing eventuated.

Today I was told that Holden are having "Supplier Problems" and that the new Production date in Melbourne is down for 30th May. Even if that does happen it will be at least a week later before I get any covers here.


It's just a guess but I think this all could be related to a major Holden parts supplier going bust. A similar situation occured in November with a trim manufacturer going bust.

I've notified everyone who had these covers on Backorder with me and have provided them with options.

Thanks for announcing this to everyone hoping to get a set; I'm sure that it's helpful (alebit a little disappointing) for those without.

Lets all hope they don't just extend it again to some other B/S date.

I checked the availability of the Holden 2 piece Engine Covers on Friday afternoon 29th May. Holden stock computer was still saying Production date 30th May.
I will check again on June 2nd.

I've just got off the phone again.
30th May has now been replaced by "To Be Advised"

I'm still trying to get somebody to get me more realistic info on WTF is going on.

OK I got some realistic answers today.

Holden are still negotiating with Potential New Suppliers for these engine covers.
So make of that as you will.
For me it's a far cry from the "production date 13th March";"production date Friday before Easter"; "production date 30th May"; "production date To Be Advised".......that I've been fed up until now.

I'm not happy that this has taken so long and it looks like it will be a long time yet before stock is available.

I checked today and the parts computer is no longer giving a date.
I think it just said "No Outlook" or something similar.
I'll give it another few weeks and then try getting the inside story on whats really happening again.

Yes they'd fit.
You'd still have to remove the beauty/noise cover from on top of the intake & re-route the heater hoses or trim one cover.
But then they'd still say 6.0 and not 6.2

There have been none available since February.
Holden are not saying when they'll be available next.
Holden have not found their new supplier yet......or announced pricing.

those 2 piece covers are SICK. the one piece unit the G8's come with leaves something to be desired lol... when I pop my hood for everyone they just look at the cover like 'WTF?'... lol

I've been told that the engine covers I've had on back order since February will be here in the next 2 weeks.
That's something positive to cling onto.

Of course I'm going to wait until I've thoroughly inspected the new product before announcing if we're back in business.

OK there's good news and bad news.

The good news is I'll have 4 sets of 6.0 engine covers here in a weeks time.

The bad news is there's been a massive price hike.
Holden have upped the price on one part number by 75%+ and on the other part number by 35% +
The Airfreight cost also rose a week ago.
The US - AUD exchange rate has also gone from less than 65c the last time I sold these (for US$135 shipped) , to the current exchange rate of 82c


What this means is the new sell price for a set of 6.0 engine covers is US$200shipped.
I have reduced my margin significantly to get the price there.
